As some on the forum are antique car enthusiasts, I wondered if anyone had experience finding antique car tires OTHER THAN Coker Tire? Needs to perform well on a 1947 Chevrolet Fleetmaster.

Looking for 6.50 - 16 wide whitewall, five tires, for less than the GDP of Sri Lanka.

At Coker, five radial tires x $442 = $2,210. Tubes. Installation. Balancing. Touch up paint on wheels. Looking at $2,500, most likely.

I got 8-17.5" mud and snow cheaper at Simple Tire than Coker for my 1962 GMC K1000 Suburban. They are par to the GDP of Sri Lanka.

Summit Racing carries Coker which does the old Firestone replicas.

I get the tires for my Model A from these guys.

They deal with early Fords not sure what you have but they may have a source for that tire size.

Thanks for the Ford idea. It prompted me to look on www.chevsofthe40s.com.

Might try simple tire
That's where I sourced the 13s for my Midget. Not vintage tire, necessarily, but they had better selection and prices than the usual suspects.

Might contact discount tire. I was looking for a similar tires for my 1960 T bird. Had looked at coker online. Discount must have some kind of deal with them because they ordered from them and they were notably cheaper mounted and balanced. YMMV, this was a few years ago. Can't complain about the tire quality though.

I feel your pain,
4 years ago a garage queen 84 Corvette came my way at a price so low I couldn't resist,
the tires were 30 years old.
At the time a set of 4 BF Goodrich 255 50 16s were available for $750, but put on back burner for a retirement project.
Now, the only street tires available out there in that size are Michelin Pilots, 590 each!
Sure wish I had bought the BFG's then.

I feel your pain as I seem to gather old cars up and finding decent tires that will work for them is a real problem. I have had hit and miss with Discount Tires, but I have one specific fella that I only deal with, and he goes out of his way to try and help. Hoosier tires worked out for me on one of my cars some time back.

Coker is a quality product for sure. And I think the boutique tire industry has consolidated and they’re the big dog. I think they also manufacture other brands, even competitors.

A set of 2-3/4 wide whitewalls for my 59 Impala will run $1200-1400 installed. My current Coker’s are 17-18 years old and in good shape, but I know that won’t last even in Ca weather.

Are you adamant about wide WW? Many cheaper tires come in 3/4” or 1” WW. Hankook, etc can be had for $70-110 each.

Is Sacramento Vintage Ford still around? They had good prices on tires. But I haven’t looked since pre Covid.

Look for sales at Coker. You should be able to find a set of radial WWW for $1500.
