Seems the feds are really jerking the NRA around. Link says no new policies and there is another program in the works coming soon.

I don’t see how the feds can determine whether insurance can or can’t be offered; are they going after motor vehicle liability insurance next? You know, the part that pays for things like negligence while piloting one of those rolling missiles that kill more people annually than, say, firearms.

This is a crock,

"In New York, where insurers are prohibited from providing defense coverage for criminal actions, the Department of Financial Services deemed Carry Guard’s offerings improper. State financial regulators also said the NRA had marketed the program without a license to do so."

So this means , on the face of it, my business can't advertise insurance without a license?

And is it New York's position that since all carry is illegal the insurance then becomes illegal?

There is no national market for insurance. Perhaps there should be.
But it is regulated by the States. In order to solicit business, you must be licensed in the state where the customer resides. I have an insurance license (life, health) in Missouri, but if I have a client who resides in Illinois I have to get licensed in Illinois.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Well I guess those who are currently insured still have coverage. They have not contacted me to cancel my policy yet.

It's not. It's just Cuomo trying to fuck the NRA and it's members.

This could open some serious trouble from other side if they choose, with things like coverage for DWI accidents.

Is there a company selling criminal defense insurance for DWI?

Any business providing insurance products in NYS must be licensed to do so by NYS. Neither the NRA nor it's insurance provider were licensed to provide their products in NYS.

There is plenty of carry in NYS. It's NYC that has a near total prohibition on carry.
