It’s haircut and hot-towel shave day!! Login/Join

The best day in the world that comes and it comes every 5-6 weeks. It’s so relaxing!

I always sit there and think that if only the environment was geared a little more directly it would be perfect…

Just a typical haircut kind of place, bright tube lighting, pop music playing, smells like a salon… but yet it is super relaxing.

I’ve always loved haircuts but adding the shave really took it up a notch!

I just need to get the owner Gal to remodel with wood and leather, and old books, so it smells just right.

Anyone else greatly appreciate a haircut and straight razor shave with beard trim??

The way my wimpy beard grows, it would be quicker to pluck it. I don't imagine that would be very relaxing ! Big Grin

Never had the pleasure, but I found a barber shop here where the guy asked if he could do the whole haircut with a straight razor since it was more fun for him that way. Told him to go for it. Wife actually said it’s the best cut I’ve had in years. They do shaves, so I’ll probably probably let the beard go for the next time I got in. Always wanted to experience the classic shave and a haircut.

I've done it myself since the Covid craziness.
I have a Wahl set for my face and a Pitbull electric for my head. Bic razor for my the back of my neck.
I had a place local that did everything but the owner got super scared and imposed all kinds of restrictions during the madness so I stopped going.

I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not.

On the topic, get a Henson AL13, a good brush and soap, some good blades and change your daily routine. I am sooooo glad I did

Shave? What's that?

I run my beard trimmer over everything but the mustache and goatee a couple of times a week and call it good.

Saving a fortune on razor blades.

I find getting haircuts tedious. The small talk is annoying. I even skip the hot towel so I can get the hell out of there.

Yep, the hot towel over my face while sitting in a comfy chair with my cellphone off is very relaxing. I also love the result of a straight razor shave, but I still get nervous with essentially a stranger holding that razor on my face. Eek

I paid $34 for a 100 pack of blades about two years ago. I'm still well stocked.

I just don’t do small talk. After the first session with my current lady (last one retired after I had used her for 25 years) picked up on it and she doesn’t try. It’s very nice.

She cuts the hair, trims the beard, shaved the neck, quick face massage, shampoo. It’s wonderful.

Naw, you're thinking about this all wrong. Think of all the money beard wearers have when they don't need to get lunch because they already have it on their face from breakfast. And don't forget all that spare cash they have from the sunscreen savings. The money just rolls in.

About three years ago my wife decided we needed to save water so we now take our weekly shower/shave on Saturday of each week. Some weeks Saturday does not get here soon enough….

I cut my own hair with clippers, but yes a haircut with a hot towel and a neck massage is very nice and relaxing. I used to go to an old fashioned barber shop in downtown Houston, and had a nice 30 to 45 minutes once a month or so.

But it has been years since I got a haircut.

As I'm bald on top with a beard my barber makes out like a bandit, but I do love my visit every few weeks. The luxury of a hot towel shave (neck and clean up) has been a mainstay the last 10 years. Keeps me styling for the Misses. Big Grin

I take my boy and we grab breakfast after. It provides a perfect chance to catch up and see what is going on in his life.

I used to enjoy a good haircut, but as I have gotten older......it is a periodic necessity......in and out, and cut it SHORT!!
