Thanks friends for the tips you gave for my trip. Mrs. Mike planned all the places, but I managed to sneak in a tour of Arlington. My biggest kid came by train from NC to visit with us and his little brother the Tomminator was very happy to see him. Looks like you hit some good spots. Glad you're not here this week. The hot humid DC weather is in full force. _____________________________________ Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Climb that goddamn mountain. Jack Kerouac

Very nice. Love the last pic. I have only been to DC once long ago. I was able to get a private tour of the White House with a SS Agent from connections I knew at the time. That was a pretty cool experience. NRA Benefactor Life Member

Glad you had a good time in my home town (not that I would brag about it). No pics of the Marine Corps Memorial (AKA Iwo Jima)? Hope you didn't miss it. An awe inspiring sculpture if I ever saw one, gives me chills every time. Don't forget to count the legs.

DC is always hot and humid in the summer. People like to joke about the “Swamp” meaning the politicians but I think people sometimes forget the place was built on top of a literal swamp.

Yup, walking the Mall in July is not the most comfortable place on Earth. It is muggy and hot. It is also pretty amazing what you can see.

Nicely done. My last visits to DC were in 2004 and 2005. I seem to have mislaid my photos of those trips, though. flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

Welcome back home from your safe trip to DC. I see that you are in the Temple, Texas area. I spent considerable time in Stonewall, TX at LBJ ranch during my USSS career.
