Mod: 110.61202013 Ser: M33349255 Type: DWSR-ELE-2406026-CV54 First the auto moisture sensor function stopped working but timed dry did work. Now the button you push to start clicks but unit fails to start. Wondering if it is just the switch (which I may try replacing) or is it some sort of a board issue? Wonder that because of the moisture sensor failing first. Unsure of units age as it came with the house when purchased 5 years ago. Can't see paying for a service call as I suspect unit is older.

If you can do the work confidently, (diagnosing the issue with a meter) and the cost of parts are a small percentage of the replacement cost of a new dryer, repair it. I have repaired washers, dryers, refrigerators, HVAC, gas and electric water heaters, ranges, I do all my own electrical and plumbing. I have come out way ahead, even buying the required tools and test equipment and paying for certifications etc. But, if you can't, the age of the dryer and the cost for service, I would buy a new unit and list yours on FB Marketplace as is, with a description of what you know. Someone that can fix it will be happy to pay a reasonable small amount and take it off your hands and make a few dollars flipping it. I had a kenmore that had a relay fail. Iirc it had similar symptoms. Replaced the relay and all good. I was able to read the pn from the relay and buy it from a electronics distributor, $4 vs $44 from a appliance place. Potter and brumfield manufacturer If the drum wont spin at all. Check the drive belt. There is a lockout if the belt breaks the unit will not turn on.

Thanks for posting your model number. That's the most important piece of information I need. The failure to work on auto dry is the differential with your added now failure to start. Underlying cause is you have a vent restriction. The auto dryer functions off the thermostat and advances the timer. That's why timed dry worked and sensor would not as the hi limit was opening rather than the operating thermostat. The problem now is your thermofuse is open. It is located on the blower assembly, has at least one blue wire and is white, about 3/8" x 1.15" Prt is WP3392519. Buy only an original Whirlpool replacement (not the Chinese specials from Amazon). Unplug the dryer!!!! Replace the thermofuse, confirm the dryer starts remove the vent and move the dryer about a foot away from the wall. Dry a load on timed dry at the correct temp for the load of clothes on time dry set for 60 minutes. if the load is dry when it shuts off, you have a vent restriction. I run this call every day. Confirm that it dries as I described and then diagnose where the airflow/vent issue is. __________________________ Writing the next chapter that I've been looking forward to.

Thanks for the replies. I do know that the vent line is too long to be practical. Last time I cleaned it out (and I know it is important) was when the home was bought a few years ago and it was a hot mess then. I'll see about getting the part ordered and get the vent cleaned out again.
