Thank you Very little |
Used to go all the time, it was something to do on a Saturday or Sunday, never really bought much just a few things that now you find on the innerwebs. Used to be $10 with $1 back if you were on the email list, now it's $11 with the $1 back, effectively eliminating the discount and charging $10 to get in, parking is free so there is that... Local government owns the property that the GS leases here, and has banned the private sale of firearms on any property they own, so making a person to person sale is illegal, and the show manager loves that, eliminates private sales competition..

Prepared for the Worst, Providing the Best |
I still go to the local ones. I've never bought a gun at one, but I typically score a decent deal on some used brass or other reloading supplies, and it's fun to look.

Political Cynic |
I went to a gun show here in Tucson after I moved here - had high hopes being a gun-friendly state - down at the Pima County Fairgrounds Parking was OK, I think it was like $2 or something - but what irked me the most was watching a police car driving up and down the lot with a plate reader I was seriously disappointed won't go back

Oh, I don’t know. Indiana still has some really good shows. Looking forward to them allowing shows again, found some really good deals last few times.

No ethanol! |
Something new to think about recently is how many guns were sold from stock during this dem-panic, and dealers cannot replace them. There is bound to be fewer choices and no one feels the need to dump product right now. It's like complaining about ammo prices, I say wait a while. ------------------ The plural of anecdote is not data. -Frank Kotsonis

Non-Miscreant |
An excellent point. Tonight I got a phone call from my gun show partner. Of course I started with "oh, I thought you died". Its been a week since we talked.... So he wanted to know if there was ever going to be another gun show. Hell, I don't know, and the same goes for antique shows. Wife wanted that answer. An old and very successful guy started losing it all. First his trophy wife ran off with another guy. He wrecked his new corvette. Then the corona caused his commie gov to close his business. On and on. Finally he walks into a church and starts praying, ending with "why God why? God points him to the lottery office, but says "you gotta buy at least one ticket". So look above the fire place, or in the bedroom closet, or even the gun room. What catches your eye and remember which items you've bought at gun shows. Go ahead, its kind of fun. Our sons won't have that much fun because they can't. Many of us were buying fun as much as guns. Oh, and what a stupid title for a thread. Looks like something I'd post. Oh, I did. Knowing is Half the Battle |
I have to apologize.... I accidentally resurrected this year old thread due to a glitch in my phone. I commented, then realized it was an old thread and deleted it. It looked like it went back to 2019...but I guess it didn't! At any rate, what I had posted was something to the effect of internet and a $30 FFL transfer makes gun shows a thing of the past. For the same cost of parking and admission, you can shop at home in your underwear without even having to wear a mask.
