Mighty variable weather we've been having...
It is now 66 degrees at 6AM in beautiful East Virginia. SnowMelt is not needed at all. I cut some grass in the pasture field edges yesterday. The grass is pretty green. There are a few blooms on the forsythia.
But a cold front is coming thru and it will get down to 48 degrees tonight.

I bought that pair of Yaktrax Diamond Grip (in the Amazon link above) after a slip about 3 years ago, getting out of my truck, and whacked my head against the door. wish I could see video of it...remember when it happened, it was like slo-mo
I wanted something that went on/off easily, and reading some reviews, Yaktrax seemed decent.
Got mine from SteepAndCheap, on sale, but it doesn’t look like they carry Yaktrax presently.
The Yaktrax Spikes would probably work well, but I didn’t see them when I was searching a few years ago.
For the low cost, I think it’s cheap insurance no matter what you decide.

A mini tornado swept through at my home last night, uprooting a dogwood tree, 60 degrees here today. South central Virginia.
This warm damp weather is why my area is plagued with colds, sickness.

I've used these for icy sidewalks. They work well. Easy to put on and take off but grip well of ice. The ones with thicker spikes are not as comfortable walking on and not really needed if you are just walking on a sidewalk with some ice.
If you try and walk through deep snow they can slip off. He found this out once walking the dog and he wanted to do off the sidewalk through a field. Not a real issue if you are just walking on ice though.

I’m jealous of you. 4 weeks ago I slipped salting my driveway and broke a couple ribs on the side of my truck. Still hurts Glad you’re uninjured

My sister, when she lived in Cleveland, OH for a while, fell and broke her ankle on an icy walk, so much so that it had to be put back together with screws.

One good thing about South Texas, I don’t have to worry about that. I do recall many falls as a kid growing up in the Midwest though. It’s been a mild winter here this year, we hit freezing once but it lasted only for a couple of hours. We are in the 30’s this morning but will be in the 60’s by the time I’m out of church.
The bad thing about South Texas is it seems as if it’s 90 degrees or hotter with 90% or greater humidity 90% of the year.
