We live about twenty miles from the Richmond airport so I'm used to seeing commercial jets coming and going both day and night. They are visible during the day and at night , I see the blinking lights. At times, we have seen the space station pass over. Tonight, while taking the trash can out to the curb, I noticed a white light, that was about the same size as the stars only it was moving, so I assumed it was an airliner. Then I noticed it was not moving in a straight line. It would reverse direction for a few seconds, then abruptly take a 90 degree turn. Overall, it moved from one side of the sky to another but constantly changing direction for short periods. I thought perhaps it was a helicopter but the altitude was much too high and even helicopters usually travel in a straight line unless they are very low, which this was not. So, any ideas on what I was seeing? Probably something obvious I haven't thought of.

I saw something just like that but more weird. Yes, you saw a UFO. If you had taken video no-one would be able to reliably identify it with otherwise commonly available evidence. So yea you're a bonafide believer.
I saw on TV today that the US Navy has updated aviator regulations for reporting UFOs, apparently aviators are noting possible collisions with any real bogeys. The story included the fact that the bogey could be an artifact caused by a radar software bug.
Interesting stuff.

None of the interstellar craft with which I'm familiar have lights, at least in flight. There really isn't a need for them, you see. And of those, only one is capable of atmospheric flight, and all are poorly reflective of normal visible wavelengths, with an albedo approaching zero for good reason. So there's that.

It's a well known fact that extraterrestrials are obsessed with inebriated rural country folk and their farm animals. If you fit this description you may have actually seen a ufo. Get ready for some probing.
