Coworker has a 2021 Nissan Rogue SV She just grabbed me & asked why she had a small puddle under the rear of her car, water dripping from the muffler heat shield. Open the rear & pull the spare tire & it's wet but not quite a puddle. Assumption is moonroof drain lines, or maybe an unsealed roof rack bolt [no crossbars on hers], any other things to check? I'm assuming it's still under warranty, so I'll tell her to take it in, just curious what other causes to maybe check? Don't see any obvious water path, and the spare tire liner doesn't show any water tracks to see where it's ingressing from, but looks to have been more wet on the passenger side. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should |
Look at the low point in that compartment and see if there's a clogged drain. They're usually a rubber grommet type thing but with a flexible part over the hole to keep water from going in from the bottom. Doesn't take much to clog them either. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

Knowing a thing or two about a thing or two |
My money is on the moon roof drain lines. My wife just went through this with her Acura RDX. Especially if she parks under or near trees. Hray P226 NSWG P220 W. German P239 SAS gen2 P6 1980 W. German P228 Nickel P365XL M400 SRP

^^ what he said. Finally ended up replacing the lines completely (with lines of adequate length) on a Chev Malibu Never have a car with a moon roof again

I had a 2021 of these and the roof rails were leaking but thankfully it was mostly caught by the sunroof drain but occasionally I'd hear sloshing. Took the dealer two tries to get it sorted. Hopefully you have a good Nissan dealer down there because they all seem worthless here.

Thanks for the replies. Looked again & the roof rack has never been used, and no stain in the headliner in the area of the sharkfin antenna. Told her to see about having the drain lines cleaned/cleared [car is out of warranty]. Found a Nissan forum that advised using weedeater line to push any debris out, before resorting to compressed air. The Enemy's gate is down.

Back, and to the left |
I always just poured some near boiling water (like 200 degrees) into the channels that feed the drains at all four corners. I do it in summer, once every couple of years. I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. -Ecclesiastes 9:11 ...But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by Him shall glory, but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped. - Psalm 63:11 [excerpted]

Nothing to add…but thanks for not calling it a Nissan “Rouge.”

Makes me crazy to see that, too. And hers is white, so would be even less accurate. The only Nissan that gets allowed the Rouge would be the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge, which was a Q50 with a GTR powertrain IIRC. Named after the Eau Rouge corner at the Spa racing circuit.
