L90814Maine lobster harvesting ban
https://gop.com/blog/joe-biden...troy-maines-economy/ https://www.politico.com/2020-election/results/maine/I'm sorry about having only links. I tried to post so the article and the photo would show up in this post. As far as what is happening to the Maine lobstermen, talk about karma coming around. It's a shame, because I visit that area every year and people in that area are some of the nicest I've met.

JOE BIDEN'S LOBSTERING BAN WILL DESTROY MAINE'S ECONOMY
ANDREW - MAHALERIS AUG 31, 2021
Thanks to Joe Biden, nearly a thousand square miles of the Gulf of Maine will be off-limits for Maine lobstermen during peak harvest time.
Now, hundreds of Maine lobstermen will be forced to abandon their livelihoods or move to unrestricted waters, causing overcrowding and reducing catch rates.
This shortsighted decision was allegedly made to protect endangered right whales. Yet, Maine lobstermen say the whales don’t live in the same waters they fish, and no right whales have even been entangled by Maine lobster ropes since 2004.
“Joe Biden’s disastrous lobstering ban will destroy Maine’s economy and crush countless jobs. Janet Mills and Jared Golden must immediately condemn this shortsighted decision that will harm Maine families.” – RNC Spokesperson Andrew Mahaleris

cslingerSeems like those whales would have a hell of a time getting stuck in a lobster trap and really if one of your pod does manage it………..do you REALLY want him swimming with you???

smschulzGuess that means already expensive lobster is going up even more.

stickman428As a former fishmonger or I suppose maybe more of someone who worked for years in a fish market and probably cooked more lobster than everyone here combined I’ve never personally understood why people like lobster so much. If it disappeared tomorrow I wouldn’t even care. To me it’s always been an overhyped, overpriced animal to consume.
This does suck for those whose livelihood is being impacted by this ban and also for those who are witnessing an already expensive item become even more expensive. Thanks Biden. I hope more than just a few of your moronic supporters take a moment to think about how you fucked them. Maybe they can take a few minutes away from their Orange Man Bad programming to consider that they helped this happen to themselves.

GraniteguyBiden won 3 of 4 electoral votes and the popular vote in Maine. Elections do indeed have consequences.

HK AgMaybe this will wake some of them up, now that their ox is getting gored.

They essentially did this to themselves but they won’t see it that way.

In Colonial times it was cheap food for poor people and prisoners. In fact, there were strong protests from prisoners over having to eat it all the time. Strange how it has become a delicacy for the houti-touti.

ryan81986There's already required breakaways for buoy lines to prevent any issues with whales. Not sure why this is an issue all of a sudden.

Seems to be another liberal "solution in search of a problem." I thought lobster traps were typically in shallow water rarely used by whales.
Back in 2019 we spend two weeks in Maine, one of the highlights was a fun and educational tour with Captain Jason:

nhtagmemberPerhaps the people of Maine will finally start to wake up and understand that there is a price for being stupid.
They even have the image of a lobster on their license plates. I used to enjoy driving over to Kittery and going to a little hole in the wall mom and pop shop and having the best lobster roll sandwich.

A week after taking office, President Biden signed Executive Order 14008 that set a goal “of conserving at least 30 percent of our lands and waters by 2030.” This goal is also known as 30 x 30. The order parrots the policy goals of radical environmental groups. For years, environmental groups have sought government support for policies that are harmful to agriculture and a productive economy.
In Nebraska, 97 percent of our land is privately owned. Getting to 30 percent would require a major federal intervention that would trample on both the State of Nebraska’s sovereignty and individual property rights. Setting aside that much land and water for conservation would also devastate food production, our rural communities, and our state’s overall economy.
