Ex-Top Obama Aide Rahm Emanuel: Democrats Have Become the ‘Crazy’ Party of ‘Punks’

Barack Obama’s former Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel delivered a blunt warning to the Democratic Party this week.

Emanuel, who also served as the Democrat mayor of Chicago, is urging its leaders to take a hard look in the mirror if they want to start winning elections again.

In a fiery appearance on The Bulwark podcast, Emanuel tore into his own party for alienating voters and letting out-of-touch elites drive the agenda.

The former top Obama aide was shown a viral clip of himself offering post-election advice.

In the clip, he said liberal elites — identified metaphorically by their Yeti mugs and NPR subscriptions — should sit down, listen, and stop talking.

“If you have a Yeti cup, be quiet, sit in the corner and listen,” he said.

“Stop telling people how to live their lives because you don’t know squat — and nobody’s had the balls to tell you that, and I just did.”

Asked by host Tim Miller whether he should be relegated to the “cuck chair” with his Yeti cup, Emanuel joked, “Yeah, I do say that.”

He doubled down, lamenting that Democrats have devolved from a working-class coalition into a club of hyper-educated coastal elitists more interested in lecturing than listening.

“You guys have run this car straight into a wall,” he said, describing how the party lost its way and disconnected from ordinary Americans.

According to Emanuel, Democrats have become too obsessed with performative progressivism and boutique cultural battles.

He noted that the agenda alienates the very voters they claim to represent.

“We’re punks, and we not only talk like punks, we talk down to people,” he said.

“We get caught up in a set of issues that aren’t relevant.”

He cited the example of the national obsession over transgender athletes — an issue that affects a minuscule number of people — while America’s education system continues to deteriorate, with the worst reading and math scores in decades.

“Think about all this about transgender in sports, etc,” he said.

“There’s hundreds of thousands of NCAA athletes, and there’s 10 transgender athletes in sports in their website.

“As I said in education, we have the worst reading scores and math scores in 30 years, and we’re arguing about bathrooms and locker rooms and not the classroom?”

Emanuel also blasted Democrats for embracing divisive identity politics over unifying issues.

“If you do identity, the other side gets to do identity,” he warned.

“And I’m going to break the news to the Democrats: the other side has more identity than you do.

“Just do the math,” he urged.

He criticized the use of terms like “Latinx,” the calls to defund police, and the overemphasis on pronoun etiquette.

Emanuel suggested that these radical talking points have cost Democrats support among black and Hispanic male voters.

These two blocs have begun to drift toward Republicans.

In Emanuel’s view, the Democratic Party needs to rediscover its roots, not just economically, but culturally.

Kitchen table issues, he argued, aren’t just about wages and inflation.

They’re about respect, safety, education, and practical solutions — not ideological posturing, he added.

It doesn’t matter what we on the Right think of such people and their awakening—however delayed or for whatever reasons—but whether they will have any effect on their own party. One side in the political arena benefits most when the other side continues to do the same unsuccessful things over and over while expecting to achieve different results. We may get some “Ha: See?” satisfaction from statements like his, but that’s all.

History has demonstrated countless times that the electorate tends to drift away from extremist positions, and many of President Trump’s policies have made a lot of people angry or at least profoundly disappointed. That includes both people who didn’t like him before but are now much more likely to become motivated to sabotage his efforts as well as many people who supported him last November.

If the Democrats start dropping some of their idiotic, not to mention downright destructive policies and practices, that will benefit the country as a whole, but will do nothing for those of us who would like DJT to succeed with his efforts. He has been in office less than five months and we can only guess how some of the radical measures will be modified in time, but it chills me to the bone to think of what would happen if a midterm election were held tomorrow—not to mention if it were for the presidency.

Emanual is a POS before and now.
Things are so bad in Chicago, Cook County, and the State of IL. and much of it is because of Emanual and the other Dems he supports.
It pains me that I actually voted for this turd for Mayor, Thats how bad the choices here are.
Him, and all the others from Clinton and Obama are out of the loop and are desperately trying to fit in.

Rahm spoke out of turn with Mayor Lil Richard Daley.
Rahm said he wanted to be Mayor of Chicago, Daley said something, and about 3 days later, Rahm re-phrased his statement by saying “I would like to be Mayor if Mayor Daley would allow me.”
When Rahm left the White House and became Mayor (under bullshit circumstances, residency requirements for the office be damned- he conveniently left his wife wedding dress in the house here in Chicago when he went to DC for 6 years…) to get his name out there, be more known in the public eye so he could get his VP spot under shillory. Rahm got his first shot as mayor because he worked under the black savior obama, and this is Chicago. How could he loose?!?!

Emanuel was a big part of the Obama DNC movement that pushed moderates out of their party, flaunted their elitist views and treated Americans with condescension as they attempted to tell us they knew better, and tried to lead us into their socialist dystopia.

Not really. Both actual rats and demonrats have a sense of self preservation.

As conservatives, we are very fortunate that most of the time the demonrats incorrectly diagnose why they're in trouble. Their narcissistic normal diagnosis is it wasn't their fault (i.e. it wasn't a bad plan or bad strategy), they're ahead of their time and the great unwashed masses need to catch-up, and/or others just didn't work as hard as they did. Based on their misdiagnosis, their self preservation instinct has them frequently jumping out of the proverbial frying pan into the fire which is hilarious to watch.

It's unfortunate that Rahm Emanuel has correctly diagnosed why they're in trouble. The good news is that at heart he's a hard-core libtard and I'm confident he'll go back to his idiotic ways as soon as the news loses interest what he is currently saying.
