I'll host pics for you.
David Troung is the man.
The forums here are awesome. Many a Rolex have sold here before.

Second option would be DavidSW, I get emails from them DAILY about buying watches.

The Rolex Forum seems to be a good resource as well.

Somewhere is the neighborhood of $3k I suspect. I believe it to be a 69173 Datejust. A dealer will offer a good bit less, as ladies Rolex are a lot harder to move than mens. If you retail it yourself, you might get a little better since it has the box (assuming you have the original papers as well) and was recently serviced.

You can also try Chrono24 to look at watches of the same style to see what people are asking. If you have the model number you can enter it into the search bar and see what comes up them match the style and finish.

I agree with having Dave Truong give you a value, based on all the things I have heard here about him.

I also agree with getting an opinion from DavidSW; I've had very good dealings with him. He outbid everyone on a limited edition Omega I sold last year. I would also add Rob Caplan at Topper Jewelers in Burlingame, CA. I have bought and sold quite a few pieces with Rob. The same with Evan Richards at Exquisite Timepieces in Naples, FL.

Between all those sources, you will be able to get a real handle on the current market value of your wife's watch.

Rolex Forum is a good place to sell, as is WatchUSeek.

You will get more if you sell it directly. I think Rogue's estimate is good, but I am less in touch with the prices of women's watches.

Here is a "near mint" Rolex, an early '00 Submariner. The list price was $5400 a few years later, maybe 2008, IIRC. Rolexforums member ErikSzper / Radcliffe recently sold it for $8900. Note the factory brushed lug and crisp chamfering. Perfectly fitting end links, no signs of polishing, factory brushed surfaces, all links, caseback sticker, these would be "near-mint" attributes.

https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=761937

The 15-20 year old Air King I pictured would cost about $3200-$3800 in mint condition. The newer ones with 6-digit model numbers have larger cases and polished lugs and would be about a grand more. The newest model is now a massive 40mm and costs almost $8000. And is, at its heart, a plain Oyster Perpetual movement in a big case with a dressed-up dial.

Rolex is privately-owned by the employees. Their retirement fund lost $100M to Bernie Madoff, I heard. From other sources, the number is closer to $900M USD. Previous generation (pre-Supercase) models in mint condition are screaming in price. Rolex, with their CNC machines, could easily make many copies of these earlier models.

I definitely would recommend seeing what DavidSW will offer. He will ask for lots of good photos and make a preliminary offer based off the pics. He sends a shipping label, you box, print, send.

He received the watches, we agreed on a price, the money was in my account ASAP.

It was a really smooth transaction and I was offered an extremely fair price for a matching pair of Yachtmasters.

bobswatches will send you a price with forwarding pictures. Matching box and paperwork is a always a plus. They seem to low ball, but at least you have a place to start.

Rolex Forums is an excellent place to learn, and perhaps sell.
