Black92LXAndroid people, is there an App for this???
I want to buy a tablet for the kids to watch shows on trips.
I have all of our movies ripped to mpeg4 files. If I load them on a microSD card is there an app that will show the cover as an icon to start playing the file?
My boys can't quite read but they sure know every disc cover there is.
Looking at the Amazon Fire 10" tablet.

darthfusterI don't know how to help, but just today I was thinking I'd like an app that makes anything I say sound like Foster Brooks..... Is there an app for that?

Phelen_KellWith Android it should just see the files in a folder and play them as long as mpeg4s are recognized. I did this with about six seasons of spongebob for my nephew for a road trip on his android tablet.
He just used the Gallery or photo viewer app on the tablet, it should recognize the video folder.

Gear.UpI think any file explorer or player would show a thumbnail.
Here's a screenshot of a list of videos on my phone's SD card in the app MX Player Pro. It also allows you to choose a thumbnail image.

bigdealHang out for Black Friday to buy that Fire 10 tablet. The email I got from Tom's Hardware noted the Fire 10 should be much lower in price (can't remember the exact price, but I was tempted to pick one up for it).
And as already noted, create a folder in the Android 'Gallery' app, put your movies in it, and you should be good to go, complete with graphics.

The original versions did not, but the latest generations do take expansion microSD cards.
I posted this from a Fire tablet that has a 64GB card, in addition to the 16GB of internal storage.

I haven't used them, but MX Player Pro and VLC are both available through the Amazon app store. So you wouldn't need to root/jailbreak/sideload to get those apps.

That was the plan.
Thanks everyone.
I had the original Samsung Galaxy tab many moons ago and it just showed file name.
So nice to see this can be done quite easily.
