I was hoping to be able to hold off until November but at 5pm it's 37 out and dropping, high tomorrow is supposed to reach 37 in the afternoon.

So what temp do you fire yours up? 40, 30, ?

It got down to 27 degrees the other night, and the following day the stove was lit off.

Well, tomorrow evening it should be in the 60's just after sunset, with an overnight low of 54 degrees. I am very much looking forward to sitting outside with the Solo Stove and watching a TV show.

Oh, you didn't mean for pleasure? You mean to heat the actual inside? Oops, my bad. Wink

Daytimes no warmer than 40-45 and nights that dip below freezing on the regular.

Thanks guys, except you holdem! Smile. Heck with it I just lit it, plenty of firewood here so why not? Instead of a barely comfortable heat pump 66 it'll soon be a toasty 70.

My daughter and SIL have one they put in the driveway when entertaining on chilly evenings and, unlike a regular fire pit, that thing really puts out some heat.

Haven't turned on the furnace yet. We've been having fires for about 3 weeks now. I have plenty of seasoned firewood. Usually when it gets into the 40's I'll start the break-in fire. Even if it's going to get warm during the day I'll start a fire early in the morning to take the chill out of the house. Someone approves.

I have a pile of odds and ends in the garage that I am burning. When it becomes bitter cold out I'll draw from the stack right outside the front door:

Back when I heated with wood, I'd always light a fire too early (40s or high 30s) and have to turn the AC on because it got way too hot in the house.

OK similar to me only I typically hold off until it gets down in the mid 30's. But it's going now and a toasty 70 inside now. Dogs (and cats) love laying in front of a fire!

That can be a problem if it's not cold enough out, or the stove is too big. I never needed to turn on the AC but a few times over the years I opened a couple window for 20 minutes or so.
