And you all thought $15 without full benefits was good.

Welcome to revolution people and hold on, it's gonna be a grand ride indeed.

If they're going to more than double it they're going to need to match the percentage increase in Social Security benefits at least. Otherwise the net decrease makes a bad situation even worse for those on a fixed income.

And how would we not still have a depression with the hundreds of thousands that become unemployed because of that wage burden on employers?
All products prices would go through t ceiling, too.

You know it's total BS when whatever the special number is, remains constant across the country. It's a huge country with giant differences in cost of living from place to place. Suggesting that one wage is sufficient everywhere is proof that it is an ideological policy rather than an economic one.

That would be a really great way to speed up the adoption and innovation of automated systems in the fast food industry and self checkout would be the only option in many grocery stores and the like.

Sounds like a great plan! Roll Eyes Those put out of work can go to work building the machines and servicing them. Should be an easy transition, would be perfect intro level jobs.

There should be an IQ test to be able to have kids, because it seems we are getting really close to "Idiocracy" being a documentary instead of fiction.

No matter how much the minimum wage may become, it will not change the relationships. How many people will lose their jobs because their employers cannot pay it? How many people will suddenly find themselves unable to purchase what they need to live because the prices will skyrocket to account for the new prices/costs?

What is next? Implanted chips to replace cash money because there is insufficient cash in the hands of the public? Or gubbermint decides to shortcut the process and just switch to credit cards, or those chips?

With small businesses devastated by mandated covid shutdowns raising the minimum wage will be the last nail in their coffin.

We desperately need to promote job growth and small business.

It makes no difference the dollar amount proposed.

Costs WILL go up and things will settle right back in. Things, costs, and prices as well, are all relative to each other.

Makes no difference if the minimum wage is $1.65 or S$87.50 per hour. Costs will go up and the bottom wage earners will have the same situation as they ALWAYS have.

Those living on a fixed pension or on social security will be absolutely wiped out.

People need to stop selling themselves to (voting for) the highest bidder promising the most.

+1. Based upon their logic, if $17.60 is good for the economy, $50 should clearly be better. There's nothing like a government to mandate what things are worth. Economics 101 - brought to you by the same folks who inflated the currency to the point a copper penny is worth .02ยข and have taxed a pack of smokes into the ~$10 range.

That part is true, but...

Yup.

Plus it will reduce our competitiveness in the world market, leading to even more jobs being off-shored.

The CBO projects that the $15/hour minimum wage, alone, will result in 1.4M jobs lost, an increase of nearly 1% in the unemployment rate, and a $54 billion deficit increase over the next ten years.

The problem is that commonsense voting requires an electorate that is both educated and informed. The "education" system no longer educates and the "news" media no longer informs. Instead they indoctrinate and propagandize.

Not only that but the rest of us will feel it too in that our wages are now devalued.

And imagine working your way up and are now making $15/hr as an assistant manager and now when they hire your entry level replacement they get the same amount that you worked your ass off to get.

It seems that having a law dictating a minimum wage is the same as the government dictating the prices of goods just from the other side of the equation.

That additional 1.4 million out of work @ $15/hr from CBO - I wonder if that captures the cascade of business closures as the economy implodes, leading to more unemployment.
