People are clever as all go get!
Kind of like the old name a star after someone silliness.
Somebody is selling land ownership in Scotland by the square foot as novelty ownership so you can officially call yourself Lord, Lady, or Laird!
$50 a square foot and you get a nice little title packet to download and they plant a tree on it. If you want them to print you a packet it will be $80!

These people are freaking genius!!

There are 43,560 square feet in an acre multiple that by $50 and one gets $2,178,000!
I can promise you this is the crappiest land possible in Scotland. Sure they have some title fees but I am guessing $178,000 easily covers the purchase of the crap acre of land and title fees. With money left over for a single social media advertising campaign!

Genius pure genius !!!!!!!!

Cards Against Humanity did something similar, in 2014 they bought a private island in Maine and gave "ownership" of one sq foot to 250,000 people that bought a $15 gift box.

They raked in 3.75 Million for an island they paid 200k for.

I shall respect you until you open your mouth, from that point on, you must earn it yourself.

Not interested in purchasing but I would like to know what type of tree they might have any chance of getting to grow in 1 square foot. Of course, they just promised to plant it…

I know a guy who bought two plots-one for him and one for his wife (who is of Scottish ancestry) as an anniversary present. It was part their 25th year celebration and included a trip to Scotland.

They’ve had a lot of fun with it.

And yeah, pure genius on the part of the seller

Many years ago Jack Daniels had a program called Tennessee Squires where each Squire was given one square inch of Tennessee land. I used to get funny emails from them; one was from a fellow asking if he could coon hunt on my property.

I'd plant kudzu.

Feed it some cinder blocks and motor oil and it'll grow like crazy!

I've seen that since the 1990s.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Two years ago wife and I were on our bi-annual vacation at Folly Beach just below Charleston S.C. and few houses down I saw a strange sign posted out on the beach at low tide.

Seems back taxes were owned on this plot of land... something like 15x40 ft on the beach which is under water at high tide. I was tempted to see if I could pay the taxes on it so I could own beach property but the drive back to Charleston is too far for the trouble.

Interesting tidbit. The Clans in Scotland were originally organized groups of cattle thieves who would make their last name the name of their clan. After a fair bit of time they then evolved into true family groups With clan membership being passed down to descendents. BTW, my great grandmother's maiden name was Margaret Scott and the Scott's in Pennsylvania were basically Scott's from Scotland who migrated to America.

I've stopped counting.
