Right on AITG. The lakes have been going in cycles for hundreds of years, and are going to keep right on doing it for hundreds more.

Right on Rightwire. People who don't know any better see the word lake and think that it can't be as bad as the ocean. The truth is that Great Lakes storms are often worse than storms on the ocean. I was on an ore carrier on Lake Superior in November, it was not fun.

True!

There's some great wreck diving in Lake Michigan. I wonder how they all got there?

I've been on Lake Michigan when it turned. It will turn, and turn QUICK! Not a fun experience in a 25 Ft SAFE Boat. I still cant believe how many people go out and don't have proper safety equipment, way too much cash and not enough sense, and don't listen to the RADIO! (Im not talking about music either!)

Pay attention to the weather and the lake conditions, not just listen to music all day long!

I've lived on one Great Lake or another for my whole life. The lakes go in cycles. People periodically panic over low water levels, then respond the same way over high water levels. Fifteen years ago, the lakes were going to run dry due to a hole in the bed of the St. Clair river. Thirty years ago, there was a house mover who made big $$ moving cottages away from the bluff in the Holland area.

The shore line changes. It's been going on for hundreds of years. Unfortunately, slowing the process is really expensive and ultimately it's only a temporary fix. None of which makes anyone feel better when it happens to them.
You are absolutely right. I'm near Milwaukee and years ago there was all the climate change hysteria as the Lake Michigan levels were so low. It will be decades and decades before it would recover if ever. Simply a bunch of nonsense.
