His name, Mr Biden, Sir, was Shinzo Abe.

Could possibly be intentional to put his family name first, as is customary in Japan.

Could be, but I still communicate with around ten Japanese friends and former colleagues, and they all use the Western manner of address.

To our eyes it just looks wrong. They do that in Hungary, too, of course.

I love this pic of Trump and Abe as the Globalists try to pounce and encircle.

After the first shot, a security guard holds up what appears to be a small shield, but it is too late

It is about 3 seconds between shots.

Unfortunately, Abe stood in place those 3 seconds

Improvised double barrel shotgun at close range. Colossal security failure, but then Hinckley got very close to Reagan too. Lack of guns in Japan probably led to carelessness about the possibility.

Abe’s security detail let him stand there fully exposed for a good 3-4 seconds instead of tackling him to the ground, I wonder why that didn’t happen?

Though Abe obviously would have been startled after the first shot (anyone would've been), it's almost as if he was standing there waiting for his Security Detail take action and/or potentially move him in the direction of safety...Kinda like he's been conditioned/instructed (trained?) to do so in order to ensure that, as the protectee, he doesn't move towards danger. I could be WAY off base, but that was my initial reaction when I saw the video.

Regardless, it a tragedy what happened... Frown

I can assert you that all Japanese Police Officers are armed when they patrol the streets and are not at the station.

They usually carry the Nambu M60 a 3 inch J Frame copy 5 shot 38 special. Or the newer M37 Smith and Wesson snub nose, with one speed loader as a back up.

That's really interesting, I never knew they still carried revolvers there. Looked it up and it looks like it's got some sort of trigger block safety doohicky on it? What's up with the Japanese and their lanyards? Seems that they love the things, they also had them on their .32 ACP P230's?

Gotta bedazzle such an evil-looking item.
All kidding aside, lanyards on sidearms are pretty common amongst police forces around the world. It's a decorative item that goes with the uniform; for awhile, Marine guards at embassies and aboard ship had lanyards on their sidearms. Sidearms are just as much a badge of office as they are tool.

Practically, lanyards keep the gun nearby if out of the hand; the reality is using a proper holster with a retention feature and maintaining good usage, mitigates the need for a lanyard. SEAL and Marine SOF units learned early on in GWOT that lanyards while practical (pistol tumbling down a ladder aboard ship), is more of an issue with getting getting hung-up and having to deal with 'wait a minute' problems.
