Another attack from Saturday, on an off duty officers in Chicago. Four persons were at a pizza parlor, and then attacked when sitting in their car afterwards. One LEO died, the other in critical condition. As one who was born in Chicago, it carries a special cachet. The city's history of criminality is world renowned. I remember talking with an foreign cab driver many years ago, when I said I was from Chicago, he smiled and said "Chicago!" and pretended to be shooting a Tommygun. Well, there's the "Disparity of Force" issue... Large angry mob vs 2 armed officers. If the officers can articulate that fact (anywhere else in the world besides Chicago), they're going to be somewhat ok. Here? Chicago? Just came back from the Post Office where I Mailed my ballot for the upcoming Mayoral race. The choice has left me with a bottle of Saki and glass in my hand. I believe no matter how bad the choices are one candidate is still better than another. I this case I voted for Lorie Lightfoot, the hailed black lesbian. She is a States Attorney so hopefully has some working relations with our Police force and the Law. Preckwinckle would, I feel, be far worse.She is the current Crook County Board president and a power hungry monster. | |||
