I may have been one off in my post above about Rev 6:17, so I’ll hedge here and join you and also state Rev 7:1 in case Rev 6:17 was a verse off.
I could certainly be off, but I don’t think there’s much significance in these numbers. At the end of the day I’ve probably read Revalation a dozen times trying to figure this out and that’s far more significant than either the riddle or the prize:
“Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.” Rev. 1:3.
I couldn’t agree with you more. It had been far too long since I had read Revalation from front to back in one sitting.

12131 It's about the angels in the book of Revelation. From the Holy Bible (The KJV), in the Book of Revelation, the word "angel" or "angels" is mentioned a total of
76 times. All of the references are cited below.
ANGEL(S): Revelation 1:1, 20 || 2:1, 8, 12, 18 || 3:1, 5, 7, 14 || 5:2, 11 || 7:1, 2(x2), 11 || 8:2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 13(x2) || 9:1, 11, 13, 14(x2), 15 || 10:1, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 || 11:1, 15 || 12:7(x2), 9 || 14:6, 8, 9, 10, 15, 17, 18, 19 || 15:1, 6, 7, 8 || 16:1, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 12, 17 || 17:1, 7 || 18:1, 21 || 19:17 || 20:1 || 21:9, 12, 17 || 22:6, 8, 16
However, not all are distinct angels. Many are overlapped/the same. For example, the seven angels of the seven churches. They are mentioned initially in Rev 1:20 as a group. They then are mentioned separately in subsequent verses/chapters. So, the number is 7, and not 14, different angels.
Another example is the 7 angels of the 7 trumpets are mentioned at the beginning of chapter eight (Rev 8:2). Subsequently, they are mentioned separately in the chapter. So, there are only 7 distinct angels, not 14.
Another example is the angel in the last chapter (Rev 22:6, 8, and 16). This angel is the same angel from chapter one (Rev 1:1), so he counts only as one, although he was mentioned a total of four times.
Also, where there are mentions of “angels” without a specific number given, I count them as one.
So, by my evaluation, there are 66 distinct angels in the Book of Revelation. Here are what I came up with.
1:1 - one angel
1:20- seven (angels of the 7 churches)
3:5 - one (plural angels counted as one, since a specific number is not given)
5:2 – one
5:11- one (plural angels counted as one)
7:1 – four (same as the 4 angels in 7:2. So, it’s 4, and not 8, angels)
7:2 - one
7:11- one (plural angels counted as one)
8:2 - seven (angels of the 7 trumpets)
8:3 - one
8:13- one (in KJV). It’s an eagle in most other newer versions, so you would have missed this one, if you used these versions instead of KJV.
9:11- one
9:14- four
10:1- one
11:1- one
12:7- one (Michael and "his angels" will be counted as one, since the actual number is unknown)
12:7- one (The dragon and "his angels" will be counted as one, since the actual number is unknown)
14:6- one
14:8- one
14:9- one
14:10-one ("holy angels" will be counted as one, since the actual number is unknown)
14:15-one
14:17-one
14:18-one
15:1 -seven (angels of the 7 last plagues)
18:1 -one
18:21-one
19:17-one
20:1 -one
21:12-twelve
21:17-one
Adding them all up, and the number is
66. Now, whether you agree or not is a discussion for another time.
Nobody got the correct answer. However, I picked those who referenced the angels in Revelation as close enough, then did a random drawing of the winner from the pile. The following 8 names were included in the pile.

Erick85Congrats benny6. Thank you Q for doing this again. It was a lot of fun and got me to break out my bible for the first time in a while. Kind of a funny side note, the night before you posted this, I was actually thinking of some of your other contests from the past and how much fun they were. Woke up the next morning and this was on the board.
