My son is going to be in Geneva on business for a few days. He is wondering about good restaurants and if there is anything he should make a point of trying. Any advice or suggestions would be welcome. Thank you.

Spinella Restaurant & Bar. Serves Sicilian food and craft beers. Bistrot des Halles de Rive. A mix of French & Swiss cuisine. Many locals frequent the place… ______________________________________________ Life is short. It’s shorter with the wrong gun…

If he is going before Christmas, I would want to check out the Christmas markets and sample the food there at least once. Plenty of walking tour videos on Youtube to decide if its something he'd enjoy ahead of time.

I was there a couple of weeks ago and the decorations were just starting to be installed. I can only imagine how beautiful it is now. As far as restaurants go I don’t remember the names but all were good but very expensive. We just googled blank restaurants near me and went from there. ------------------ Eddie Our Founding Fathers were men who understood that the right thing is not necessarily the written thing. -kkina

Have him try Swiss wines. Chesslas (white, pronounced chess-la) and Plant Robert (red, kinda like pinot noir). The Swiss do not export their wines. They say wine comes from the north shore of Lake Geneva (southern exposure and sunshine reflected off the lake) and mineral water (e.g., evian) from the south (mountainous) shore. _________________________________________________________________________ “A man’s treatment of a dog is no indication of the man’s nature, but his treatment of a cat is. Husband, Father, Aggie, all around good guy! |
I stayed at the Hotel Intercontinental on my one visit to Geneva. Just down the street was a Chez ma cuisine. It was a chicken based place as I recall. Free range healthy chicken, small by American portions but a good meal. The other meals were usually hosted at the hotel venue. Never had a bad meal in Geneva. Got to shoot the FASS 90, and STGW 57 on that trip with a local at a 300M range, which was great.

When I was there (1990s), most restaurants had their menus posted outside the restaurant. Great way to see what they serve and prices before you commit. Also, not sure how much German ya'all speak, but be advised "pferd" means 'horse,' and they DO serve horse meat in Europe. . . I had delicious horse meatloaf, but the waiter (who spoke excellent English) did NOT inform us of this. I knew what I was ordering, though. They speak French in Geneva. If you read "Pferd" on a French menu and the waiter didn't say anything about it, then you've eaten something else.

Interesting recommendation. The golf course is right next to the WEF headquarters.

Ok, well, I guess I didn't think it relevant to mention that the place I had horse meatloaf was in Bern. . . Find out the French word for pferd and I believe my point stands. . . Fear God and Dread Nought Admiral of the Fleet Sir Jacky Fisher
