Told cops where to go for over 29 years… |
With apologies to Dr. Suess, I present "Do you carry?"... I will carry when I mow, I will carry when I row. I will carry where I fish, I will carry when I kiss. I will carry in my car, I will carry near and far. I will carry in my yard, I will carry where meat is charred. I will carry in my pants, I will carry when I dance. I will carry all day long, I will carry in a thong. I will carry here and there, I will carry everywhere. What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

Better question would be "where DON'T I carry a handgun..." The answer being "nowhere." Although, honestly.... I had a recent exception... I attended the Guns and Roses concert last week. (which was one of my "Grail Concerts" that I had to see before I died. They last played here in 1991, which erupted in a massive riot, and was directly responsible for the way police responded to the nonsense in 2014) I was 10 years old then... so didn't have a chance to go. THey are probably my second favorite band of all time, and of all my "Grail Concerts" on of the few possible because all of the core members are still alive. That all said, the venue they had it, was at the Convention Center downtown in the former Dome where the Rams played before they left for LA (Good riddance). Well, the ownership of the Dome, despite state law, despite every other venue in town, despite policy, apparently refused to allow LE to carry inside. WHen the NFL was in town still, it was an ordeal... But it was NFL rules. Now that the NFL has left, they have left the policy in place... I parked 9 blocks away (cause that was the closest available parking spot) and having to walk through downtown in one of the most dangerous cities in the USA... (literally, we have been in the top few on the list for the past decades) I had to walk it. Made it to the show with 40 minutes to spare, and was told to find an officer to let me in if i signed it... I was told incorrectly... I had to walk back 9 blocks, secure my firearm in my car, in a parking lot (and many of our are not only poorly secured, but basically a lot full or targets thanks to idiotic city policies). Then I had to walk 9 blocks back and thankfully, the band was 10 minutes late for the show.... So, here for posterity, I'll never attend an even downtown at "The Dome at America's Center" again. Ever... for ANY reason... I don't care if they are handing out 1 million dollar powerball tickets to each and every attendee... Won't happen... And I hope the rest of the St. Louis area, and any surrounding member does as well. The city still owes millions on it, and it is destined to fail since they allowed the NFL to extort them, and then refused to do anything constructive to make them stay... You all do what you want... but I won't be attending. Strive to live your life so when you wake up in the morning and your feet hit the floor, the devil says "Oh crap, he's up."

I carry when I leave the house. I don't carry at work but mainly out of comfort. Same for while I am at home although I do have firearms close at hand throughout the house. Whenever I step out the door of my house, I'm armed, to include yard work, etc. Depending on my destination that day, dictates how lightly or moderately armed I am. Inside the home, I don't often carry on my person, but keep a firearm within arms reach. "Also I heard the voice of the Lord saying who shall I send, and who will go for us? Always when out at the property, in my vehicle and in most cases when out and about except for where prohibited. We have had bears at the property in the past month. These two and possible others that walked behind the tree and did not get on camera. The bear reaches up and takes a black walnut off the tree. Stop the video and move the slider back to the start to see his teeth. https://www.youtube.com/watch?...ture=em-upload_owner 41

I fall into this category as well. Nearly every room has a firearm in it, there are defense shotguns at key points, and 2 long guns staged as well. Each vehicle has a fullsize pistol. My garage has 2 guns stashed. Walking around the yard, I nearly always have something on me. If I leave the house I have 2. If I leave town my "go bag" and a rifle are in my truck. Sometimes, depending on the area I'm going to (or if transitioning across state) my armor kit goes as well. That's generally less of an issue in the summer around here, as there's a lot of people around that are much easier prey (tourists). Also a good number of the thieves/thugs/junkies are busy fishing and working their tourist scams. They get more bold and hungry in the winter. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "The trouble with our Liberal friends...is not that they're ignorant, it's just that they know so much that isn't so." All day, every day. I'm at the age where I might look like an easy mark to someone trying to turn his life around. That, and I'm still in a weakened state from my fight with cancer and would have trouble defending myself without a gun. Like most of the forum, carry everyday anywhere I can. The seldom nights I get to enjoy some adult beverages are the only times I go without my firearm.

I live in California. I carry a handgun, in a locked case, with the ammo in a separate locked case, in the back of the vehicle, out of reach, only when going to or returning from the range. Many years ago I knew a Sgt Major in the Thai National Police who had a nail driven in the wall in his shower, where he hung his revolver while showering. I think that's the furthest he ever got from that gun. CMSGT USAF (Retired) Chief of Police (Retired)

Everywhere in public except work (a big no-no as a psych RN on a locked psychiatric unit), and where prohibited by state law. nero _________________________ "Today is the pupil of yesterday."...Publilius Syrus
