Just because something is legal to do doesn't mean it is the smart thing to do. |
My 12 year old Cub Cadet with "dual integrated pump hydrostatic/transaxles" just quit driving. The engine and PTO still runs fine but the mower just won't move. A topside inspection show oil in the reservoir and all wires look good. I have not yet looked underside. Just wondered if anybody has encountered this in the past and has some ideas. Everything else seems to be in great shape on the mower and I don't want to miss an "easy" fix if it exists. Plan on calling Cab Cadet tomorrow hoping to talk to a tech. Per the manual:"dual integrated pump hydrostatic/transaxles" is sealed and requires NO maintenance. Model Z-force S 60" Integrity is doing the right thing, even when nobody is looking.

My neighbor had a Cub Cadet rider that wouldn’t move/drive. They got a new one and asked me to tow the old one to the curb, free to good home. The main problem was it wouldn’t ‘go’. I towed it home, planning the curb later. Once I looked at it, there was a serious linkage issue. There were bolts missing, allowing play to where the drive linkage wouldn’t activate the drive system. I started with putting the proper bolts in place, again the drive fluid & all was fine from the start. My brother uses this mower now, it’s been over 3-4 years. They didn’t want it back.

I would also check for a disconnect bar. My mower has a bar you pull to disconnect the drive system so you can tow it without damage. It's just an on/off pull bar with mechanical linkage. Runs from the tranny to the back of the mower. _____________________________________ "We must not allow a mine shaft gap."

Got it in the barn and lifted up. Just need to replace the drive belt. Unfortunately my back & bum knee means I will have to take it in and pay the big bucks for to have somebody else do it. Oh well, at least I don't have to buy a new mower. Integrity is doing the right thing, even when nobody is looking.

I know how you feel . I just replaced the blades on my zero turn mower and it was a pain in the ass . Two of the three would not break loose easily . I had to remove the spindle on one of them and put it in a vice . Thank God my son and a friend of mine came over and helped . All of that crawling around and up and down wreaked havoc on my back . A simple one hour job turned into a day and a half ..
