Parents recently bought. Mother insists the backup camera has a beeper warning. It's not giving a warning.
We've researched and been unable to find any information.
Thinking she might be confusing it with the car it replaced. Internet searches and OM no help.
Anyone with any practical knowledge?

ETA: It doesn't have the parking assist feature..

We have a 2017 and the backup camera does not have any sort of proximity warning to it.

I've got the beeper in my 2021 Bronco Sport, but if I do research, I find that not all models of the Bronco Sport have the beeper. You have to have a certain package to get it.

That may be what's going on here.

It may only beep when you get into the orange/red territory on the back up markers

On the newer Honda's, 2015 to 2020's that I have been in, have a button to turn on and off those systems. On my 2017 Ridgeline it is on the left hand side of the steering wheel on the lower dash with several other system control switches.

Safety of the 2022 Honda Odyssey
The 2022 Honda Odyssey comes with a boatload of features for keeping you and your passengers safe. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration went so far as to rate the Honda Odyssey at 5 out of 5 stars for safety.

The Odyssey comes standard with forward collision warning, lane departure warning, a rearview camera, and automatic emergency braking. Some optional features are forward and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

If the rear bumper doesn't look like this, with the sensors, it doesn't have it

It's the little button thingies on the bumper in BigSwede's picture. Separate system from the backup camera.

My Ford Edge has the backup sensor beepers, but no backup camera.

My wife's RAV4 has both sensors and backup camera, and also has the sensors in front.

What BigSwede said.

Honda has a lot of safety features but a backup warning system that beeps is an add-on. I helped my parents buy a Honda Pilot last year and spent a lot of time looking at features and all. The system you talk about was an add-on for every trim level.

You can have the dealer add this feature which is what my parents did for an added cost.

Do you know whether this can be added for other than Honda? Is that make-and-model specific, or is it a generic type thing?

I have that on the rear of my Ford Edge, I would really like to add it to the front (like on my wife's RAV4), if practical.

I'm pretty sure Honda doesn't use beeping sensors.

Yup. Works great on my '88 Suburban.

I'm not seeing any sensors on the bumper. So, unless it's tied into the camera I don't think it has the backup alarm. Going to take it by a dealership next time we are near one.

I have a 2018 Accord. I turned off the proximity sensors because I kept getting WARNING! OBJECT APPROACHING! warnings that were false alarms.
As noted above, there is a button below the left dash to turn those sensors with their beeping off or on.
It is separate from the backup camera.

Our Flex does not have visible sensors on the rear bumper, but does have the proximity beep, so lack of sensors does not necessarily mean it's not there.

Edited to retract that, it does have visible sensors...

Check owner's manual and/or original window sticker if available.
