Innocent question here. I know why the B2s fly non-stop from MO to wherever in the ME. But why don't they stop somewhere on the way home so the pilots can get some R&R or swap crews? Do we only base those planes in the interior of the continental US and not them take off from anywhere else?

Oh, some LibTard was screaching about a 'clearly impeachable offense' yesterday. I expect more of that, since they cannot debate the appropriateness of President Trump's actions logically or rationally.
I just ignore such childish tantrums.
Then bring murder charges against Obama, Biden, and Holder for the extra-judicial murder of four Americans, Samir Khan, Abdulrahman Awlaki, Jude Kenan Mohammad, and Anwar Awlak.

In the B-2, do they have a crew bunk for resting? Have one pilot at the controls and flying on autopilot? Reducing crew fatigue would be a high priority I would expect.

I absolutely and whole heartedly agree with this move. There are always going to be consequences to action, but in this case not nearly as many for non action. I am very proud of our leadership today. Still lots of work to be done. Stay frosty.

Reading that sounds pretty much like a statement Chuck Schumer put out. In fact cover up the name and tell me he released the statement and I would just shrug and think - typical.

The notion that the US Army under Patton or anyone else could have/should have taken on the Red Army with the idea of overthrowing the Soviet regime and clearing out the Communists from the length and breadth of Russia shows ignorance of the political and military realities of the time.
The Red Army was huge and immensely powerful at the end of the war, and compare that with their situation in 1941 when the Germans invaded. In 1941 they were much weaker militarily, Stalin had purged most of its top leadership, and they were totally unprepared and surprised by the attack. Despite that they fought the Germans to a standstill and then started pushing them back, never to be stopped in any significant way. In 1945 and 1946 Stalin was nevertheless paranoid enough about the Americans and other Allies that he certainly wouldn’t have been caught napping again. A war against the Soviet Union would have made the slugfest against the German Wehrmacht in the west seem like cleaning out a kindergarten tea party.
Plus any possibility of success by the US would have been dependent upon having its peak, end of war strength and capabilities which is another fantasy. Almost before the war was over thousands of Greatest Generation soldiers and other armed forces members were protesting and demonstrating because demobilization to discharge and send them home was taking too long in their view. To believe that they and the rest of the American public would have approved a new war against a most recent ally (“endless wars” anyone?) is simply bizarre. If Truman had been demented enough to have ordered an attack on the USSR he would have been removed from office immediately if not sooner—and rightfully so.
One of Hitler’s legacies was the massive strengthening of the Soviet Union and the resulting Cold War I, but other than defeating his mad regime and preventing the consequences of a German victory, there was nothing that could have prevented that wave of history.
Added: And yeah, the idea that US—excuse me: UN—forces in Korea could have successfully fought Chinese forces in the mainland is equally ... ignorant. This message has been edited. Last edited by: sigfreund,

It is truly incredible how those pilots can operate non-stop like that. What is the NSN on 1000mL bags of IV Red Bull??

The post-WW2 era when the US was effectively the world's police force was the greatest era of prosperity and economic advancement in history. With AI, space, and other technologies beginning to be implemented, it is only fitting that we resume that role for the benefit of all mankind.
There does not seem to be a strong appetite for this among the American people at this time, in contrast to the post WW2 era, but, if not us, then who can we trust to pick up the sword and shield?

“The B-2 Spirit bomber is equipped with accommodations to support its crew during long missions. These include a bed, a toilet, and a microwave, allowing one crew member to rest, use the facilities, or prepare a meal while the other maintains focus on the aircraft. This setup is unusual for a two-seater aircraft, where both pilots typically remain at the controls. The B-2's design allows for a degree of crew rest and personal hygiene, which is crucial for maintaining focus and performance during extended flights, which can last for many hours.”

Not that it was used in this strike, but the B-52 has a similar crew rest setup--one bed, a toilet, and oven.
