The result of October 7 has been:

- annihilation of Hamas
- annihilation of Hezbollah
- annihilation of Iran's nuclear enrichment facilities and regional ambitions
Is it over, or is there more on the list?

I expect Iran to do something in retaliation. There are many options, from terror attacks overseas or on US soil, to missile attacks on US bases and warships in the region.

I can confidently state that, NO MATTER HOW THEY RESPOND, nothing they do in the next 2 days or 2 decades will be anywhere close to the damage and chaos that would result from an Iranian nuclear device detonating in/over an Israeli, US, or other city.

A nuclear strike, even in a foreign country, would make 9/11 look like a mosquito bite in comparison.

If Iran chose to, they could have launched hundreds of weapons against US bases in the Persian Gulf in retaliation this morning. The fact they did not do so indicates they are CAREFULLY considering their options. This is a good thing.

President Trump did what nobody else would do. If this is the ONLY thing President Trump does this term, then he has done above and beyond what ANY other president could/would have done.

So, wring your hands and fret if you choose, but we are ALL safer today than we were this time yesterday.

Well, Tim Kaine is already blowharding about how “Trump’s war against Iran” is unconstitutional…. Roll Eyes

How long before jerks like Tim start screaming about impeachment?

They can scream all they want. They don't have the votes to impeach much less remove.

Iran's response is most likely going to be via cyber methods; it really doesn't have much capability militarily other than to keep expending rockets (which it cannot replenish easily/quickly).

I think if Tim wants to defend Iran so much, then he should go there. And stay.

This is such an obvious fact that it boggles the mind that anyone would believe otherwise. If you believe that a couple of sleeper cells or even a couple of dozen are the worst that Iran could do to this country, I recommend taking a look at pictures of post-bombing Hiroshima.

A nuclear strike by a country like Iran would not require a sophisticated delivery system like an ICBM. Just load it on a ship and sail into an appropriate harbor. In addition to the direct results, if that happened what would be our response? Would anyone be whining about “endless wars” or “Get in and get out,” then?

A nuclear weapon in the hands of people like that would be like a loaded cocked and unlocked 1911 in the hands of a kid in the middle of a kindergarten class. And assuming they’re not mad enough to actually use a nuke against the US, what about just a threat? “Okay, Washington, we have the Bomb. Stop supporting Israel and pull all of your forces out of the middle east or the next time you hear from us will be a loud noise in the Potomac River.” How would someone like Kackling Kamala respond?

Oh, some LibTard was screaching about a 'clearly impeachable offense' yesterday. I expect more of that, since they cannot debate the appropriateness of President Trump's actions logically or rationally.

I just ignore such childish tantrums.

Hegseth: 'World Should Listen' When Trump Speaks

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, describing the United States' "Operation Midnight Hammer" strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities as an "incredible and overwhelming success," said that the bombings show the world that when President Donald Trump speaks, "the world should listen."

"It was an incredible and overwhelming success," Hegseth said Sunday at the Pentagon, where he spoke during a press conference with Gen. Dan Caine, the chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. "The order we received from our commander in chief was focused. It was powerful, and it was clear we devastated the Iranian nuclear program."

The operation, he added, came "thanks to President Trump," whose "bold and visionary leadership, and his commitment to peace through strength," led to the obliteration of Iran's nuclear ambitions.

Operation Midnight Hammer didn't target Iran's troops or the Iranian people, but Trump has consistently stated for over 10 years that Iran must not get a nuclear weapon, the secretary added.

"Many presidents have dreamed of delivering the final blow to Iran's nuclear program, and none could," and the operation showed the world "that American deterrence is back," he added.

Hegseth also commented that the U.S. military, "the most powerful military the world has ever known," had the ability to back up Trump's orders.

But Iran has learned that when Trump said a peace agreement must be reached in 60 days, or its nuclear capability would not exist, Trump meant what he said, according to Hegseth.

"President Trump said no nukes," he said, adding that Trump said Saturday night that any retaliation by Iran would be met "with force far greater than what was witnessed" in the nuclear facility bombings.

"Iran would be smart to heed those words," said Hegseth.

He further recognized all military members involved in the operation, saying they performed "flawlessly," and gave recognition to Israel.

"This is a plan that took months and weeks of positioning and preparation so that we could be ready when the president of the United States called," he said. "It took a great deal of precision. It involved misdirection and the highest of operational security."

Gen. Caine: 'Too Early' to Assess Iran's Capability

Gen. Dan Caine, the chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said Sunday is "way too early" to assess whether Iran still has nuclear capability following strikes on three of its major nuclear facilities, and described the mission, "Operation Midnight Hammer" as a "complex and high-risk mission carried out with exceptional skill and discipline by our joint force."

"This operation was designed to severely degrade Iran's nuclear weapons infrastructure," Caine told reporters at the Pentagon. "It was planned and executed across multiple domains and theaters, with coordination that reflects our ability to project power globally with speed and precision at the time and place of our nation's choosing."

He added that very few people knew the timing or the nature of the plan.

Outlining the mission, Caine said that a midnight Friday into Saturday morning, U.S. Eastern Time, a large B-2 strike package launched from the United States.

"Part of the package proceeded to the West and into the Pacific as a decoy, a deception effort known only to an extremely small number of planners and key leaders here in Washington and in Tampa," said Caine. "The main strike package, comprised of seven B-2 Spirit bombers, each with two crew members, proceeded quietly to the east with minimal communications throughout the 18-hour flight into the target area."

And once over land, the B-2s linked up with escort and support aircraft in a "complex, tightly-timed maneuver plan.

"At approximately 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time last night and just prior to the strike package entering Iran, a U.S. submarine in the Central Command area of responsibility launched more than two dozen Tomahawk land attack cruise missiles against key surface infrastructure targets at Esfahan," he said.

And, he added, "at approximately 6:40 p.m. Eastern standard time, or 2:10 a.m. Iran time, the lead B-2 dropped two GBU 57 massive ordnance penetrator weapons on the first of several points at Fordo."

A total of 14 "bunker buster" bombs were dropped against two nuclear target areas, and all three Iranian targets were hit between 6:40 p.m. and 7:05 p.m. Eastern time, said Caine.

He added that the United States is not aware of any shots fired at its planes on the way out.

"Iran's fighters did not fly, and it appears that Iran's surface-to-air missile systems did not see us," he said. "Throughout the mission, we retained the element of surprise. "

He added that it will take some time to assess the damages, "but initial battle damage assessments indicate that all three sites sustained extremely severe damage and destruction."

Well… for starters, I guess we’ll find out in the next day or two whether concerns about sleeper cells in the U.S. were justified.

They and other terrorist nations had opportunities at this for the last two decades. It is easy to forget that Obama ordered hundreds of air strikes against terrorist nations using drones in his two terms.

The possible threat of terrorist cells cannot dictate our foreign policy.

It's going to be hard for us regular folks to understand where this is going for a while.
We don't have the access to real intelligence, even our own government probably has a cloudy picture at this point. We don't know what they may have salvaged or protected and if some other country (Norks for example) could slip some quantity into Iran for them to get the program going again. They also need a delivery system, and that may be as much of a challenge for them.
They have the options, smaller terrorism, disrupting the middle east oil situation, etc.
Unfortunately, we probably didn't have a lot of other realistic choices. The Europeans can't even deal effectively with (or agree on) problems of a more conventional nature right in their own back yard.
The other countries in the region are sitting on the sidelines. At least they're not causing problems at this point, but they watch which way the wind blows and have no reason to cause issues right now. Not sure I'd blame them, given the outcome of other conflicts in the region.
Then there's the question of what would happen if the government there were to collapse or chaos breaks out. Is there a government in exile or hiding in the country that could run the place? Not that anyone has seen.

I agree with you. And, at least as I see it, we don't know what's true, and what is a lie to distract or redirect attention while something else is happening, or some other goal is being met.

Funny because I hear a lot of screaming that we can't do this because they might attack.

We are the United States.

I would highly suggest not FAFOing.

Well played by the USAF! No other organization in the world could have done such a thing as this mission. Imagine driving straight for 18 hours then doing a high risk attack in hostile territory, then another 18 hours home. Badass.
