I'm sure you'll do fine. Shame it's gotta be dragged out like that.
Hope you have a secure connection back to us while you're in recovery. I understand those places have limits on their internet connections and we'll be hoping for updates.
We're pulling for you.

Thank you for the wishes.
I just noticed your avatar. My father was in Belgium during WWII. He brought back a small bronze copy of the fountain statue of Monacan Pis, which I still have. It is quite the back story behind it.

Best wishes for a full recovery!

BTW, how the heck do you get a staph infection in an artificial knee???

I ask this because I just had my right hip replaced a few weeks ago, and will have the left one done in June, and I would love to avoid such things!

One way is to not take the antibiotics before dental work if your doctor requires it, that was not my case though as I always followed protocol. It is rare in any case but also very hard to diagnose. I slipped and fell on ice about a year ago and my knees swelled up, was sent to therapy but no improvement over time. Ortho doc drew fluid from knees and that is when the actual problem was discovered.
The bad part is that the infections attach to the metal of the joints and in all the nooks and crannies between bone and prosthesis so antibiotics cannot get into all the small cracks.

I had a good friend go through that procedure about 10 years ago. We was way over weight and about 75. He came through just fine. I pray you will too.

"nephew" - I'm having a hard time understanding how germs on the outside made it past your skin & muscle to raise Cain on the inside. Nevertheless, I can certainly empathize with you since almost all my spine has hardware in it. Looks like you're in for a long summer. With that in mind I will do my best to remember to pray for you each day. Here's praying that The Lord will give you a quick, complete, and painless recovery. We are positively hoping & praying for the very best for you... Fred

Sorry about that. Sounds like zero fun. Download lots of good audiobooks. Hope it goes better than expected.

The body has staph all over the place. One thing they have tried is having patients swab the inside of their nostrils with antibiotic cream two weeks before surgery. Additionally the hospital is full of sick patients.

Best of luck to you.
