Any suggestions for a bullet trap?

ridewvAny suggestions for a bullet trap?
I'm interested in getting a bullet trap that would be used for .22 (and possibly 9mm handgun). Any suggestions? Where should I be looking to buy such an item?
Also there is a machine/welding shop nearby that if I had a design could probably make one if not too complicated.

gjgalliganI had an old stand up propane tank, 100 gal size maybe. About 30" in diameter.
I cut the top off and mounted it horizontally on an old small boat trailer. I welded in a shelf inside on the tank bottom angled up to help hold rubber mulch. Put a good amount of the rubber in there. I have shot 44 mag in it and have not seen any evidence of even denting the back of the trap (tank bottom).
Integrity is doing the right thing, even when nobody is looking.

pedropcolaI always read the best cheap easy way was stack some truck tires, fill the very bottom with concrete then fill the majority of the rest with sand. I might be missing some key parts but the tires and sand were key elements.

ridewvI want to be able to (relatively easy) remove the lead to recycle it.

casKeep an eye on craigslist and Marketplace, I used to see the commercially available ones (made for .22's in the 60'-80's now and then for not much money.
When I was a kid we used to shoot .22s, mostly shorts, some longs, in the basement. Nothing more that 2x2 cardboard box stacked with newspaper. Dad put a 1/4" piece of steel at the back, but the bullets never got anywhere near it.

ridewvThanks cas, I just checked FB and eBay and saw a few and I'll keep checking there. I didn't realize some utilize a replaceable rubber insert?
Seems like there are fairly lightweight, inexpensive models or heavy duty expensive ones with not much in-between.

sunburnCover the back and sides with sound deadening like dynomat. Sound goes from loud ping to a thump.
Lick the lollipop of mediocrity once and you suck forever.

ridewvThanks Peet, that one looks like what I am looking for. I just emailed asking if a larger 15-18" is available? This will be outside with no close neighbors so I'm not sure sound deadening is important.

sourdough44I made one of sorts for the backyard. It’s a rectangle box, stands up, 6” or more deep. This box is then filled with sand. As long was one doesn’t use 308 FMJ type ammo, bullets are ‘trapped’.
https://castboolits.gunloads.c...-Sandbox-bullet-trap Mine is kinda like the one linked above, only larger. Eventually you have to change the front plywood. It works super well with a 22, & most handgun shooting.
