Found out around noon that a co-worker of mine, a guy I helped train and grew close to, passed away in his sleep. He was only in his mid-30's.
He was from the Gambia and he was one of the hardest working, most compassionate person's I've ever met. His smile, attitude and just his person were so infectious, you couldn't help feel better being around him.
He was so good with patients, their families and just about every co-worker who had him for a nursing assistant. If everybody who worked their had only half of the dedication, compassion and joy he brought to his work, we would have paradise.
The world is a little darker and colder without him. Farewell

Sorry to hear of your friend passing. Individuals can make a difference.
Interesting you mention he's from Gambia. I also work with a guy from Gambia and your description of a hardworking good person etc match my Gambian Co-worker to a T. Like tops of only a handful of people I've ever met.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown
