Instead of I-70, I'm thinking of an off-interstate option thru St. Louis via US-22 & US-50. I'd probably bump around Cincinnati to US-50, and head north short of St. Louis to Silver Lake Rest Area.

What's Ohio's US-22 going to be like? Mostly empty, maybe on occasion a long line of vehicles behind a farm vehicle? Thanks.

I've never driven that particular route but I think your evaluation is spot on. Speed limit will most likely be 55 and you can get away with 60 typically. Just watch for speed traps when going through the small towns. Looks like a nice drive. It is pretty rolling countryside in that part of the state.

Ask Waze. It will be able to tell you what it is like at the moment you ask it to map that route.

Are you just looking to be less rushed and more scenic, or are you thinking of making stops to see things along the way?
