Our oldest grandson, a high school freshman, applied, and was accepted into JROTC. He wants to serve in the military. If successful, he will be the fifth generation of my family to serve. I am bursting with pride.

Congrats.... If he sticks with it could possibly give him couple of steps ahead of other recruits without any rotc training who would go in at the same time. ................................ drill sgt.

Terrific, I love the idea of these young folks being in ROTC. My granddaughter is a freshman at a high school in NJ (Marine Academy of Science and Technology) and part of her program is Navy ROTC.

He's starting early. Congratulations. Do they have real military people teaching the JROTC?

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Somebody is raising him right.

I only wish there were more folks doing that these days.

That’s pretty awesome

My sons high school is back to back defending national champs for navy JROTC competition that they do. There is 10 categories and the rotc team finished in top 5 in every category. Out of 600 high schools in the country with Rotc teams.

My son had no interest in trying out for rotc and i didn’t push it.

Have him look at Texas A&M, they have a goal to grow their ROTC program to 3000 cadets.

Long history of Service from A&M cadets.

If he can play an instrument have him look at some of the Aggie Band half time videos.
