Para's rule about nesting quotes is simple common sense. I suggested it about a year ago on a forum I regularly post on. I was laughed out of the thread so to speak. Fast forward to today, we have some heavy traffic with the two main threads becoming unreadable because of the nested quotes. Someone commented about the long threads and I reminded everyone how they responded to my suggestion last year. This time, I'm getting two thumbs up. Who knows, maybe Para and SIGforum can change the internet one forum at a time. Anyway, we really have it good here. So thanks to Para, LBJ and the moderators for a superlative forum! __________________________

I missed that rule but it seems “common sense.” I always thought the draw of Sigforum was no rules except that you are expected to behave as a mature adult guest dealing with other mature adults in someone else’s house. I know this is brilliant because where there are rules and people, there will always be people who will game the rules. I remember learning that the phrase most dreaded to be heard by management in a union shop is that they will work to the rules. That’s because rules can be gamed. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
