Extremely tacky. If you weren't sure where the department was headed I think any doubt should be erased.

As a good friend of mine (LEO, SWAT) answered another friend of ours what was his opinion of his son wanting to be a police officer. He said make sure he wants to be a fireman.

I became friends with a student in an LE firearms instructor course I was teaching last year here in Arkansas.

He had retired from NYPD after 20 years. I needed subtitles to understand this guy. True Bronx accent. Great, great guy and he bled NYPD Blue. He said that he simply had to leave because the department was over as it had been known since its formation. The NYPD of legend is gone. He said that those in charge of the city are more than hidden Marxists...they're openly Communists. Open and emboldened. He was both angry and sad.

I guess I know now exactly what he was fleeing from...

Keep feeding the commies everything they want, its the only way they will learn the bitter lesson.

I've worked, trained, and socialized with a large number of current and former NYPD guys. Most of them view NYC as the absolute epicenter of the universe and everything else that they experience career-wise is basically always described relative to how they did it/do it on The Job. It's a mix of endearing, entertaining, and sometimes annoying, but in the end, I think there's a good basis for it: There has never been another police agency quite like NYPD.

Losing that organizational culture-- even the not-so-great-parts-- is a crime in itself.

My point was, lots of conservative types in the media are making all sorts of claims about Adams and his police background meaning New York is going to see a whole group of new policies that will bring crime under control and restore order. Ain't gonna happen. Adams, assuming he had a brain and nut sack, could have come out and made clear he would immediately repeal DeBlasio's vaccine mandate horseshit. That would have bought him support from both the police and local business owners. Has he? Nope. Hasn't signaled anything to try and calm anyone. I'll gladly eat my words if he proves me wrong, but I doubt he will. Just another ignorant poser.

I think the cops were desperate to see DeBlasio get ousted and had to endorse someone. Adams probably seemed the only option. But this PR stunt has to have the police union doubting their choice.

No surprise whatsoever.
