Rule #1: Use enough gun |
http://www.nola.com/traffic/in...ml#incart_river_home A 97-year-old Covington man was killed after being run over by his own truck as he attempted to close a gate at a friend's home on Wednesday (May 3). Charles Crockett was rushed to a hospital after the accident but died of his injuries, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office. An employee of Covington Country Club called 911 after observing an elderly man lying on the ground next to his truck near a home at 195 Country Club Drive. The man, later identified as Crockett, was able to tell first responders that he was run over by his truck as he tried to close a gate, the sheriff's office reported. Crockett, who was doing yard work for a friend, was leaving the property when the accident occurred, authorities said. He stopped the truck to shut the gate, but accidently didn't put the vehicle fully in park before getting out. As he got out to close the gate, the truck rolled over him, causing fatal injuries, the sheriff's office reported. "To live to be 97-years-old is an accomplishment in itself," Sheriff Randy Smith said in a news release. "It's a shame this gentleman's life was taken due to a tragic and unexpected accident. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Mr. Crockett." When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are undisturbed.
