Socks are not shoes , In case you were wondering
a year ago I gave a good friend some socks ,
he love's them.

he rants about how great his feet feel in them .

he wishes they would last longer, Eek

How do you wear out a pair of socks in a year?
I ask

turns out that he runs around the house in them , on his 14 y.o. carpet.

they were not made for that ,

put on your old white cotton p.o.s. 8 for $4.00 socks for running around the house .

No they are not indestructible because they a 6 times the price .

carpet does wear out socks. f.y.i.

Pearls before swine kinda thing?

I dunno, growing up I was told not to walk around the house wearing socks because it would wear them out. I thought this was a pretty well-known thing?

I have some “house socks” similar to these. More comfortable than any house slippers.

must be the only pair of socks he has. I've never heard of wearing out a sock because of walking around the house in them.

I wear socks (not with sandals) in the house all the time in winter. Having a job where I'm always on my feet and moving has a lot more to do with wearing them out.

sandals, slippers , cheap socks , what ever.

I wonder ,
when buying carpet ,
if one should ask , if there are less abrasive
types of carpet , than others?

Also, do not learn to ride a bike wearing socks but no shoes...in my defense I was very young.

maybe that's why the carpet has lasted 14 years...it has softer stuff to wear out via "selective ablation" etc???

Never heard of not wearing your socks around the house... I come from the Midwest. I wonder if it's a regional thing ??

Next I suppose you'll tell me I have to wear pants around the house. How am I supposed to practice my Tom Cruise impersonation?

I am very rarely barefoot. When I shower and sleep is all. And I never wear shoes in my house. I can’t remember the last pair of socks I actually wore out and I don’t buy fancy socks. Just some form of Hanes.

I’ve also never been told not to wear socks inside for fear of wearing them out.

Its warm enough most the year that I'll go barefoot around my place. Wearing socks around not only wears them out prematurely but, generates too much static electricity.

Shoes come off immediately upon entering, no need to spread the crap that's all over the sidewalk and streets around my place.

I don’t wear my shoes in doors. I come home and put these on.

Bachelors don’t count. They probably do all sorts of weird shit with their socks.

Barefoot as soon as I can get to it.

In from outside, go to closet, take off shoes, take off socks... relax.

But then, floors clean, carpet clean, no holes in socks.

Flip flops (chanclas) ideally for outside, from May to October unless going some place nice or where not appropriate.

Is it just me or did anyone else expect this topic to be Wal-Mart related?

Off topic, I've noticed more pajama wearers in regular grocery stores lately. I guess that they think if its okay for Wal-Mart, it must be okay for anywhere.

Is it okay to wear shoes without socks?
