I’ve seen little on this. I’ve seen big stores like Meijer, Family Farm and Tractor Supply have a major outage this past week - all cash only. Today it was a Burger King.

Anyone know what’s going on with the processors? Storms or data center crash?

This in spades I think adequately demonstrates why a cashless society sounds great in theory but fails immediately when there is a hiccup in the internet.

The only thing I use cash for is poker night. I'm screwed in a cyber attack.

Credit card expired 4 years ago. They keep sendin me replacements, but I don't bother to activate them. Sometimes its a little difficult to carry that much cash, but I manage, even on steak night. Just got to plan ahead.

I take my wife to lunch every day. I check my wallet every morning. I keep enough cash to cover any planned expense. Cash is king.

I was in Meijer Saturday afternoon and as I was getting ready to check out they announced that they were having trouble but I continued. My debit card was denied so I used a Capital One credit that went through after a couple minutes. When I checked my debit/checking account it had been charged and my credit card was charged once Saturday and again on Sunday....all for the same amount so I was charged 3 times for one purchase. I was on hold with Meijer CS for an hour yesterday and never got a pick up.

Cash is King. I have never paid for a meal or gas ever with a credit card. Kroger,Amazon and a few of my hobby websites have ever seen my CC number. I guess that's why I two hundred pounds of coins in my garage.

I've been out of the business for a couple of years, but there had been a lot of consolidation back then and there were only a couple of point-of-sale processors left. So, if one of those folks went off line, a lot of retailers would not be able to take credit or debit cards.

You'll get faster service by going to your credit card company and disputing the charges. It's simple enough to explain with the three same charges occurring within a relatively short time span. You can just relate what happened.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I've recently seen places in NC that still have signs up that they are not taking cash or giving change.

I've been to some McD's after 9pm, where, if you can even go in, ordering and payment is via the kiosk only.

I'll make the call tomorrow, don't feel like I owe Meijer CS anything now.

I have eliminated most of my "card hacked" problems, I never use a debt card after it took a bank 30 days to reimburse for 2 small charges. I only use credit cards for grocery's & internet charges. Only cash in restaurants, after being hacked several times.

Capital One, in my experience, will get right on it and make it right for you.

I had no trouble with my debit card at the local Wendy's yesterday (Thursday).

It wouldn’t at all surprise me if this isn’t part of the globalist plan; get EVERYONE into digital currency and then crash the system, making everyone insolvent in an instant. Everyone but the elite and those with actual money.

When the power was out for three weeks, cash was the only currency accepted. No cash, no gas, no food except what the Red Cross was handing out.

This is the main reason my wife and I always carry cash on us.
We have not had any problems in the area where we live now however in the past we have run into situations at our local gas station not being able to take credit cards.
It is funny to see the faces of people not being able to pump gas while they wonder how come you are able to, hint because I paid cash.

I think the advocates of cash miss what’s coming … there won’t be any soon. Big Grin

If we can’t have fertilizer and baby formula, what makes you think they’re going to allow us to keep our cash?
