Looking into some new headphones for gaming use.

My current setup is through the optical audio out on my TV, so I can watch TV or play my xbox and use them.

Is it better audio if I plug directly into the console? My main concern is the gaming aspect so I don't care much if I lose the ability to use them with the TV. Just curious if there is any quality difference between the two outputs?

don't think there will be much of a quality difference since they both optical outputs

I might think there could be a slight audio lag if plugged into the TV opposed to directly into the console

I have a tv with a bluetooth transmitter hooked to RCA and a different tv with the bluetooth transmitter hooked to the optical jack.

Using powerbeats, the optical one sounds better to me and has less lag.

Could be the port, could be the transmitter, but I lean toward the port. Both transmitters were in the same ($30-$40) price range.
