I had been a long time user of Granite Apps NOAA Unofficial app for several years.
https://play.google.com/store/....free&hl=en_US&gl=US
But with the loss of SYNOP (synoptic) weather data (developer Paul Nadler has said it won't be returning) and current issues with refreshing the 13 mile away NOAA site data, it no longer served me well.

FWIW the synoptic data provided a listing of small observation sites that the user could select for current readings. I found it very helpful as I am located on the leeward side of the Black Hills at a much higher altitude than the NOAA site. Conditions are usually vastly different rendering the NOAA observation data useless so having access to observations quite local to me was a boon.

What I've gone to as my new primary is WeaWoW,
https://play.google.com/store/...eawow&hl=en_US&gl=US
an ad free app which provides the option to select forecast providers from: NWS, AccuWeather, Foreca, MET Norway, AerisWeather, Apple Weather (Dark Sky), Weatherbit, Open Weather Map, and World Weather Online.
The weather map is configurable with my preferring Google Map Satellite Radar imagery. Another plus for those who decry Android not having the option to add day-date to the top navigation bar along side time is that one of the 13 widget options (WOWO 4x3) contains all of that along with forecast summaries for placement on your home page. There is a reason this app garners a 4.9 overall rating on Google Play.

I also have long maintained the free version of Windy
https://play.google.com/store/...=apps&hl=en_US&gl=US
which provides excellent maps, lightning tracking, and a comparison of data from GFS, ECMWF, ICON, METROBLUE, NAM, HRDPS, and HRRR CONUS models.

I'm also playing with Shadow Weather
https://play.google.com/store/...=apps&hl=en_US&gl=US
which has the option to select forecast providers from: Shadow Weather, Apple Weather (Dark Sky), MET Norway, OpenWeatherMap, Vaisala Xweather, or WeatherBit. I'm doing this primarily to see how the Shadow Weather data compares and how decent the weather maps are.

As with WeaWow it has a clean main page presentation with multiple options. It does have ads but has an unusual feature where if you watch a 15 second or so ad the full premium features are unlocked ad free for the following 24 hours. Otherwise there is a monthly or annual fee.

And finally a rather spartan app called Overmorrow.
https://play.google.com/store/...=apps&hl=en_US&gl=US
I came across it while researching app options. It provides a quick summary without extras or ads and gives a choice between open-meteo or weatherapi.com for forecast data. It is quite new and the developer says he is working on adding features like widgets. I'm simply watching how it develops and how accurate open-meteo is for my location.

So in summary I use WeaWow as my primary with Windy available for extra features/data.

Shadow Weather and Overmorrow are interesting for those who might prefer a different UI, data provider, or with the later well presented simplicity.

Thought I'd share for those who might be interested. Big Grin

And as an aside https://www.forecastadvisor.com/ is a great resource for helping evaluate which forecast data provider is most accurate for your location. Sadly when Dark Sky was bought by Apple it apparently was dropped from the listing of providers for comparison. It also does not have Shadow Weather but does open-meteo.

I use WeatherBug on my Android.
I did pay a little bit for the upgraded no ad version but it is pretty substantial and I like the various maps it provides.

I use Accuweather. They seem to be quite accurate.

Wunderground ads are too intrusive for me.
Weatherbug ad fee tariff is overly expensive.
Accuweather forecast data is available to me in WeaWow (for a minimal one time donation of $2 or more) whose UI I much prefer to the Accuweather app's.

FWIW my Samsung phone came with both Samsung's weather app
https://samsung-weather.en.uptodown.com/android
and 1Weather
https://play.google.com/store/...roid&c=apps&hl=en_US
baked in.
I dislike them both for similar reasons (UI and ads).

I just came across www.raindrop.farm

Shows 24 hr rainfall in a very specific location - like my house vs my neighbors house. Available as an app or just over their website. We had some showers here early this am - my gauge showed .5", Raindrop showed .53

It shows 24 hr amounts and I'm not sure if it resets at midnight or constantly updates the previous 24 hr period. Until I figure that out I cant really comment on accuracy

Adblock+ apparently isn't available to block other than browser content for my android phone it seems.
I tried at couple other blockers said to work on apps as well as within a browser but the Weather Underground app ads still appear. So it still is a non starter for me.

Shadow Weather just got a strike for accuracy. Said rain in 25 minutes while it was pouring outside. And open-meteo simply shows overcast. WeaWow with AccuWeather, AerisWeather, or WeatherBit are the winners thus far for my location.

ADDENDUM: Swedish Blokade 5 installed as an apk works to block app ads on my android phone. Did a comparison between WeatherBug, WunderGround (Weather Underground) and The Weather Channel. The "Bug" won out for me of these.

Still doing evaluations of others for their features and accuracy. WeatherBug and Shadow Weather specifically. WeaWow and Windy will remain as solid primary Wx apps for me. Just looking to see if specific features justify adding any others to my line up.

I've dumped everything but WeaWow and Windy including that Swedish VPN ad blocker. Ultimately they didn't provide any features I didn't already have or didn't need to justify for me keeping them.

The success of a solution usually depends upon your point of view

I use the local news station's website for forecasts but I use MyRadar for current conditions. Primarily, it shows data from every weather radar in a clean simple to view map.
It has other functions like winds and temps with various overlays.
I use the paid version since I like the app I wanted to pay them for their work, but I don’t subscribe to any of the advanced features.

That "raindrop" link was a good one, thanks for that.

I dug into it and found my house. I'll be comparing it to my weather station. Pretty cool stuff. Cool

I use WeatherUnderground as well. The Michigan State Police also (or used to) use this app on their mobile data terminals.
