Half of it I carried up two flights of stairs )14 steps)

the other half I carried up two flights of stairs, (28 steps)

most people would be in 50% better condition than
me , at this point

I'm not sure how it works on Bendabalia, but here on Earth, your apartment probably has drinking water that's automatically delivered upstairs using pipes and water pressure. Big Grin

Am glad I don't use it
the
yearly water reports that we get are horrible.

I looked in to filters , 5 years ago but the price was the same as the water so ,

but , I might check the price of filters again as water has gone up 24 cents per gallon.

if anyone has a review of the
Pur
Britta
or
Zero water filters ,
I'd be interested in hearing about your experiance

Well, you'll have to carry filters up the stairs to, probably weigh less though...

Check the pitcher types, like Brita (or there are various other brands too). They can be found for $10-$30 retail. https://www.brita.com/water-pitchers/

Also, I'm not sure what your budget it, how much leeway your lease allows for adding attachments, or how long you plan to stay there, but there are also in-line filters that can be installed under the sink so filtered water comes out of the tap. Culligan (the water jug delivery folks) have expanded into offering and installing in-line filters: https://www.culligan.com/produ...water-filter-systems

Big Burkey with Doulton Sterasyl 7” ceramic filters. I stopped buying the Burkey filters since they wouldn’t publish tests to prove the effectiveness of their filters.

the other concern I have is;

finding a system theat lets you know when the filter gets bad

in a perfect world I envision a gizmo that measures out 180 gallons and then a red light appears ,
telling me that the filter is ready to be swapped out.

preferably for $60.00 or less per filter

The Burkey is gravity filtration, you’ll know when it’s plugged.

We keep a Brita pitcher in the refrigerator, so there is always a nice supply of cold, filtered, drinking water available.

There are LEDs on top that indicate when the filter should be changed.

My tap water won't sicken or kill me, but it doesn't taste very good. I buy gallon-jugged water, mostly for making coffee, sometimes for cooking where the water comes in direct contact with the food. It runs roughly $3-$4 a week. I have no idea how much it weighs. Razz

Actual filters (purely using mechanical separation of contaminants vs. some chemical process) generally actually get BETTER at filtering as they are used and contaminant builds up on the filter - it just gets harder and harder to push the thing you're filtering through the filter at the same time.

With a home water filter (as long as it isn't a chemical-based one), you're fine just replacing it when the amount of water flow drops off to unacceptable levels.

Water is very hard in AZ. I have citric filter in the garage where the line comes into the house. Then I have an active carbon filter under the kitchen sink. And I fill my Brita pitcher from that sink. I have another filter on the master bath shower head. I have Amazon subscriptions to replace them regularly.

I have an espresso machine and the water going into it needs to be quite pure to prevent fouling the boiler with lime etc. On another site I visit that caters to the home espresso crowd the Zero Water pitcher is the number one choice. It works so well that a small pinch of chemicals are added back so that the sensors for the boiler fill work properly and also for taste improvement of the coffee. Carrying the replacement filters up the stairs would be a snap versus jugs/bottles of water. I recommend you look into the Zero Water pitcher to see if it will suit your purposes. The pitcher kit also comes with a test meter so you can check how well the pitcher is working.

Per FF Hydraulics a mean weight of water was 8.35 lbs at least in 1980 terms
