Can someone please explain to me is the SAFE ACT requiring US Citizen identification when registering for voting or when going to vote during an election or both ??? I hear and read liberals and democrats complaining that women who are married and take their husbands last names, will not be able to vote as their birth certificates will not match their current ID. However am I correct in that 99.99% of the people do not carry their birth certificate with them as ID. Thank you for reading and any info to make all of this more clear for me. ^^^^^^ Doc is dead balls accurate on this. The democrats Real ID program that they’ve pushed so hard for solves it.

Actually, no. The REAL ID card does not indicate citizenship status, only that the person on the ID has been verified to be who the ID is for. Their main purpose was for domestic air travel. That would included non-citizens who are legally in the U.S. There are only five states which have enhanced ID that indicate citizenship status: Michigan, Minnesota, new York, Vermont, and Washington. They have those to facilitate border crossings. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. ^^^^ That simply proves it can be done by all states. Make it happen, (adding citizenship to REAL ID) make it a requirement the a person be verified, and the person doing the verification at the polls is tagged to everyone they verify. Time to put teeth into the protection of every person's right to vote, over the insult and injury to all by letting those who have no right to vote, do so with such cavalier aplomb. Actually yes, I had to when I got mine. But, apparently Trump has changed that according to the DHS website. It was mandated that I provided a US birth certificate. And they were extremely picky about it. Which means this whorl thing was a complete waste of time and taxpayer money.

This isn't on Trump. The REAL ID was passed in 2005. it's main purpose was for boarding domestic air flights. Other two purposes are to access federal facilities and entering nuclear power plants. It was to make sure people are who they are, not what is their citizenship. Legal non-citizens have to be able to drive or travel by air also. The proof of identity used to obtain a REAL ID includes a U.S. passport, birth certificate, or other government-issued document. For non-citizen, this could have been a green card. Another part of the requirement was proof of your address via utility bills, bank statements, or credit card statements. The important thing is that the real id makes me feel safe. We've almost had them for twenty years. During that time of almost adoption no one has flown a plane into a building, so they are obviously extremely effective. As far as proving who you are to get on voter rolls, that seems wise. Part of the kerfuffle the left keeps bringing up about SAVE revolves around married women whose name has changed. Based on my reading of the statute, if you're already registered to vote, you're not affected. It only comes into play when you need to change your voter registration information, or are newly registering... The left also keeps ignoring the fact that the reason we need this is because they facilitated 20M people entering the country.
