Was window shopping at some AD's in my spare time. Nobody had this new watch (MSRP of $ 26.000) but it looks like a winner if it fits you and you can afford it.. Eek

It features an intense black dial and large luminescent hour markers. Waterproof to a depth of 11,000 metres (36,090 feet), with a unidirectional 60-minute rotatable bezel, the Deepsea Challenge is an extension of the experimental watch created in 2012 to accompany James Cameron in the Mariana Trench.

RLX titanium is a grade 5 titanium alloy selected by Rolex for its weightlessness and resistance to deformation and corrosion. Although insensitive to abyssal pressure, the experimental watch that accompanied James Cameron in the Mariana Trench still posed a wearability problem due to its weight, as it was made of 904L steel. The use of RLX titanium to create the case and bracelet of the Deepsea Challenge considerably lightened its weight: it is 30 per cent lighter than the experimental watch that inspired it.

It’s a beautiful watch, would definitely fill up a large wrist nicely at the 50mm crown diameter…. But I don’t think I could ever not see the large script “Original gas escape valve…” on the outer ring of the watch face. To me it takes up too much real estate. However, I’m looking at something that’s way out of my price range anyhow Razz

Sharp looking watch.
I know Rolex and Omega have been going back and forth over who has the watch that can go the deepest.
The Omega Planet Ocean 6000M Co‑Axial Master Chronometer is a 45.5 mm watch so it is a little smaller. It is also called the Ultra Deep.
MSRP on this one is $11,600. DavidSw has a pr owned one for $10,375 in case anyone is interested Wink

Beautiful watch. But out of my league price wise and too large for my wrists. I’ll keep my 2 classic GMT Masters.

An absolutely clown-like absurd and useless... watch?..

This comparison photo shows it next to the Rolex Deep Sea, which is 44m and thiCk-as-a-brick already. In fact the Deep Sea (again, left) is the third up-sized iteration of the Rolex dive watches, which all are quite a bit more pumped than just a decade ago, or so.

The Deep Sea is already comically too big for many/most men. But I'll admit that some very large men can sort of pull it off.

Don't get me wrong, to each his own. But seriously, that's an exercise in what-if, and not a serious watch or tool for anything.

Here is the Rolex Deep Sea (again, left, and FAR smaller than the Challenger) compared to my Tudor FXD on a NATO. It is thicker than the FXD with a double layered NATO on it. And over a 6.5" wrist, it's a jumbo sized tuna can.

My bet though is that they discontinue this in a year or so, and they're worth a gazillion to collectors in ten years.

Nice comparison. Thank you.

The 44 fits me well so perhaps the 50 would have a chance. Once I win the lottery!

I would love to try it on (9.25” wrist). In my opinion if the lugs hang past your wrist it’s too big for you.

I quit messing with Rolex because of their refusal to make larger case sizes for more than one of their watches. The titanium would probably help it wear well and not feel as too heavy as the 44”.

Fugly. I have the 44mm version and it's a beast, but works. Would not work if an iota larger.

The length and width dimensions would honestly work on a 9.25" wrist. The thiCkness (caseback to crystal surface) would work well for no human alive. Take a .45 round and lay it on its side. Stack another on top. That is still not as thick as this watch.

Here's a good read about it above. I mean, it IS an amazing thing. Recall the last time you were on a commercial airline flight. Now imagine you're in a boat that high above the ocean floor and you dropped your watch. If you had a Reeeeeeeeeeealy long coat hanger and miraculous aim, and you brought it back up, it'd be fine.

I'm thankful they included that huge reminder about the gas purge valve. That reminds everyone why this watch is so awesome in case they had any doubts.

I don't understand why they continue to make "dive watches". No one in the dive community uses them to dive. Watch sized dive computers are so common, cheap and have 10,000 times the capability of these "dive watches".

Are these obtainable? May not be a bad investment to buy one and tuck it away NIB for 20 years.

I own a (James Cameron) Deep Sea Sea Dweller and I'm a big guy with an 8" wrist. I'm very comfortable with a 44mm case, but this BEAST??? No way! I believe this piece will be made in very limited quantities because it's too big to be of interest to people that could/would actually wear such a thing. IMHO it's more an attempt to gain publicity, that actually a marketable product and it'll drop off their offerings within a year.

Jesus. I thought a Marathon JDD was a huge wrist-biscuit. Thickness of two 45 rounds stacked really puts it perspective. I remember threads where folks were making fun of how ridiculously big Invictas were...Rolex for the win?

My Deepsea is about as large a watch as I can comfortably wear.

I looked into it a little farther.

Looks like the price is too steep for me.

Rolex Deepsea Challenge 126067 50mm Titanium Unworn 2022 for $39,975 for sale from a Seller on Chrono24.

Didn’t see any under $35k. Ouch.

I can't see how they justify the price, it's only good to 36,000 feet deep. I snorkel deeper than that...

: )
