This. Growing up, my folks had tennis balls hanging from nylon string. They were set so you’d line up the tennis ball with a specific spot. From memory, on one car it was the end of the wiper arm. I think the other was a crease on the hood. In any case, the balls were set to provide side to side alignment as well as depth.

It's not so much about where to stop front/back, although a little bit of that. It's more about left/right for the two cars that share the garage. BTW, we always back into the garage as well. If either car is too much to the center, then I can't get the garbage bins out down the center between the cars w/o moving them first. Too much away from center and I can't open the doors (well, I can but it becomes at least a tight squeeze to get in/out or sometimes not at all). We're talking inches - less than 1 foot of leeway.

So I need to get the cars almost exactly in the right spots relative to walls and the garage center in order to enter/exit the cars as easily as well as get the bins out the garage between the cars.

If I ever build a custom garage, I gonna have a dedicated door just for the bins.

Thanks. I think I have some. I'm actually using bright orange duck (perhaps duct as well) tape now that is working okay but hard to see at night. However, the tape is coming off in the front tire area.

Tape round two might work okay if I keep the tape just outside the car boundaries and away from the front tires.

The paint on does not work well. We have been replacing it, as needed, with trowel on - and this was on virgin concrete with a company rep at the install.

(Same company later said it’s failing because the prep wasn’t done correctly…)

I just don’t think paint on works. Just human traffic has worn it off, in some places, and it was supposed to be forklift rated.

Uhhh, have you not thought of simply backing one car in and having the other car pull straight in, so that the driver's sides of both cars is in the center of the garage? If you have passengers they can get out of the car before you pull into the garage and/or get in the car after you pull it out if you leaving. That way you can keep the cars tight to the outside of the garage and have maximum room between the cars.

One thing to keep in mind with the epoxy with the flaked finish is that it can make any mechanical repair work in the garage an exercise in frustration. Drop a screw, etc during a repair and it can be quite a challenge to find it.

That's sad but unusual. Two part epoxies generally don't bother most people. And I would normally think a garage would be exceptionally well ventilated. But an organic vapor respirator solves that risk at very low cost.
But in any case you are going to need to grind the floor and that is going to generate a ton of dust.
I've done it a few times and been happy.
But prep is everything.

Got to be something cheaper than garage flooring work though. Bullseyes/targets painted on the walls(or paintings/posters?) to guide side-side alignment? Thinner bins, maybe?

I have not but I've seen some really nice applications. I saw one garage by a motorhead who did his with epoxy flake in the design and color of a standard checker board.

I like to do most things myself but the garage floor I left to the garage floor guys. They spent about 5 hours grinding the floor, it had a cheap epoxy job from the builder that had been redone once since the house was built 4 years ago. It had some peeling and stains so I wanted it done before we moved in. Polyaspartic cost 3300 for a three car garage and looks great. I wanted a nice garage so it was my splurge.
