New Balance had picked them up and was making them in the states for a short period of time but I was never able to get a pair in my size.

A new start up has been touting they have the rights now and were starting production. I have been following but the release keeps getting pushed back and pushed back.
Well, tomorrow is supposed to be the day but their email states they had to raise the price because of material cost increases.

https://pfflyers.com/

So far there have no indicators of what pricing will actually be. Guess we will find out tomorrow.

So... they're like hipster Chuck Taylors? Small batch, locally sourced, sustainable, non-GMO, retro sneakers at 3x the price?

We’ll see on cost but like anything American made they will certainly cost more than imported Chucks. Hipster not really sure about that just know they are trying to bring back an Iconic American brand in a market where there almost zero options.
New Balance is about the only American made gym shoe there is.

I guess glad to see another American made option, but I don't like canvas shoes. It rains here.

I wish I could still get the old 80s high tops. I much preferred the Converse all stars or Adidas variants. Have switched to Merrel hiking boots for "light" shoes until I can find something better.

A Perpetual Disappointment...

$88 Black Hi tops
$78 white hi tops
$68 all low tops
$58 kids

I am beginning to think they opted not for American manufacturing.
Going to have to find out.

Yeah Yeah Yeah, that's great, but are they also Organic Free Range? If not, then that's a deal breaker for me.

So the initial start is not made in the states they are hoping to have the American made line out eventually.
They did not say where they are made though I did send a follow up request asking where they are made
China would be my guess so looks like I’ll be holding out a bit longer.

I wore PF Flyers and those shoes made me the fastest kid on the block, I believed. I remember wearing Flyers in the rain at a picnic-a happy 50 year old memory.

After the Flyers, Converse High Tops. I might buy a pair of PFF for walking.

I primarily wear Adidas (gazelles) and (low-top) Chucks for casual kicks, for ages now.

But if they pull of the American made ones, I'll try some out.

Gazelles used to be about all I wore. Probably have had 20 or so pairs over the years. But I guess my feet got wide and they are too narrow in the toe box and I get ingrown toe nails if I wear them much.
They are hard to find for me as I wear the largest size they make.

Heh, funny, I have that same problem, only a little less so. I have average sized feet for a 6ft honkey but they're a bit wide and I have high arches. I have to be super on the ball with my toenails, and I stretch out the sides eventually, and usually blow out the heel cup after a couple of years, junk like that.

I still love them, though, the look and shape/profile, and they're great for anything casual, farting around town, lowkey vacations, at home, dates, etc., even a brief run, bike, or skateboarding session is okay, but nothing too crazy or it gets uncomfortable by hour six or day two or whatever. I definitely need more arch support for anything particularly athletic or if I'm on my feet all day multiple days in a row.

Woe is me, or something. Smile
