That may be true, but I always thought he was dumping the fingerprintless weapon at the site and clearing it so nobody could use it against him as he walked away.

That clip and "Beat it punks!" are my two favorites. In 1984 there were probably no worries about DNA in the limo or the inside of the gloves. Harshest Dream, Reality

I can't remember what I had for breakfast yesterday, but I was working in Miami during the series being filmed there and was fairly interested in the gunplay on display in the show. I don't remember where I read the article but in looking for it, I did find this. An individual identifying as Mr. Walt Rauch, a noted gun writer of the day, posted this, Here's the link to that Whatever happened to Jim Zubiena? | Gun Hub Forums Whatever happened to Jim Zubiena? www.gunhub.com Walt Rauch 491 posts · Joined 2004 #6 · May 6, 2005 re singer, same story I had. He told me that his famous Miami Vice scene required a dozen takes as he had difficulty making a clean draw wearing gloves. Now to the never before disclosed "insider" tidbit, the "Why" of him clearing the 1911 after the shooting and putting it on the dead guys chest. I asked. Jim pointed out that he had followed the "unload and show clear" IPSC range command so long he did it reflexively. In the take, he reverted to auto pilot and cleared the 1911. He said that, once he realized what he had done, putting the gun on the dead many's chest just seemed like the right next move and the director - Michael Mann - left all of it in the scene. Now you have "the rest of the story"! I unloaded the d*** gun and dropped it on the yellow shirt to seperate me from any evidence of the shooting and make sure the firearm could not be used against me as I departed. Remember.... this was way before prints could be gotten out of the gloves..... all planned and executed on the set as I have stated before.... no unload and show clear from habit...... I did the same thing in an episode of Nash Bridges years later. Hope this clears this up. Thanks for remembering........ -------------------------------------------- I believe Mr. Zubiena is the only one who can answer the why and wherefores of one of what is arguably one of the most memorable scenes in the series.
