I know this has been discussed and did a search, but couldn't find it.

I want to replace my battery before winter. Suggestions?

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

If you have advance auto you can go online, setup an account and get a 15 to 25% discount code, order it to pickup locally and they will install for free.

Wal-Mart has good prices and free install, I've bought a couple from them, good warranty, good service.

I've had good luck with Optimas in about 10 different personal and business vehicles. Some say they aren't what they used to be but mine have worked very well and for a long time.
The best prices I've found have been online with free shipping and no tax.

+1. Virtually all batteries today are crap in terms of build quality, so spend as little as possible and get a good warranty.

As an automitive Tech I"ve had good luck with Intestate batteries.

~*~PSA~*~ If you own a late model BMW Do NOT allow them to use a memory saver that plugs into the ALDL (Computer socket thingy). In a normal car this provides power to the modules to keep the memory stored. In some cars it even keeps the radio presets. In a BMW it blows a 10a(IIRC) fuse that controls the windows, door locks and other "comfort items". Also make sure they do the battery registation. The memory saver issues has happened to me once, and other members of my shop several times UNTIL I wrote in sharpy on the memoy saver "NO BMWS". The first time it took a little bit of research and head scratching to figure out.

I'll plus 1 that. I also believe a company named "Deka" makes those AGM batteries. I use them in my truck, my motorcycles, my mower...anything I want to start every time. Money well spent.
I have found recently that on my "MyLowes" account I can order Deka AGM for my bikes and pick them up in my local Lowes. Get 10% veterans discount on top of a good price to boot.

I use Everstart batteries at Walmart. They're made by Johnson Controls, in Milwaukee.
