The two main stars, Clair Danes as executive producer and Mandy Patinkin as "producer".
there is executive producers, assoc. executive producers, senior producers, segment producers and producers.

gpbst3I noticed this too.
I have heard when the actors are also producers it a work around to pay them more money that was not in the actor budget.

Spokane228Producers are staff writers. One writer gets credit, but the room works on it.

So, as an actor I want 60K for each episode I’m in, but the going rate is only 30K. So they let me (or my rep) sit in on some of the writer’s script writing sessions and make me a producer and pay me an additional 40K per episode? Makes sense, sort of.

KevmoAll of the above and then some...
Usually executive producers are those who have some invenstment in the project and as far as producers, it is a very vauge title and there can ben many reasons for it from union workarounds to multiple studios/distribution outlets ebing invloved.
