Is the Koran explicitly anti-Semitic? I haven't read it, though I've attended several classes and studied several books on Islam and the Koran. I was under the impression that the Koran preached against infidels in general, not specifically against the Jews, and that the specifically Muslim/Jewish conflict was a much more recent issue, starting with friction between Arab and Jewish nationalists in the Middle East in the mid-to-late 1800s, followed by conflicts resulting from the mass Zionist immigration to Palestine in the early-to-mid 1900s, and finally open war after the withdrawal of the British and the subsequent formation of the state of Israel in 1948, resulting in an ongoing conflict between Arabs and Jews from the mid-1900s onward, with the Arab/Israeli conflict developed into a larger Muslim/Jewish conflict. Prior to that, it seems like (at least from what little I know) that Muslims and Jews managed to live alongside each other relatively peacefully for ~1200 years, from the 600s through the mid-1800s, in the Middle East, North Africa, Southeast Europe, and Moorish Spain.

The Koran speaks specifically about the Jews. Early on the Koran is like the old testament as Mohammad got his early learnings from the Jewish rabbis. He later disagreed with them and finally turned against them. Living the Dream

What useful purpose could this discussion possibly serve? Both are probably pretty solidly anti-Semitic. What does it matter which is worse? How would you judge such a thing? It is like arguing over whether pirates beat ninjas, but not as much fun. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.
