Due to stricter emission standards going into effect, Honda has decided to get out of the mower business after this year. Kubota and Snapper have already ceased selling commercial mowers as well as Xmark.

I found this out while searching for a new mower this week.

So if you are going to need a new mower in the next few years I would grab a Honda while you still can.

Went to Home Depot one day recently and all they had in push mowers were electrics (or had hidden the gas models). Looking for one to have available at Mom's house. Gas riding mowers were far fewer, with electric models prominent.

Hello manufactures, it's only a few states with these stupid restrictions.

This was on SF last year or so. A neighbor had out a non self propelled Honda on the curb for city cleanup collection, I almost grabbed it but someone else did. It probably just needed the air filter cleaned or the carb cleaned from running too much corn gas.

I got my Gas JD, the e-version is double the cost, couldn't make that up in a lifetime...

Yep, sold my 15 year old Honda and bought a new commercial series. Its a tank. Last mower I will ever need to buy.

Go to Home Depot or Lowes online. Get it shipped to your house for free.

Home Depot even gave me the military discount.

^^^May get it there in NC instead of my area (not far from DC). Things may be different down in the real world.

I got a 20 year old 2 cycle a lawn Boy that started on the 3rd pull after taking it out of hibernation. I know parts are wearing out on it, but it’s going to be hard to give it up.

My Husqvarna push mower has a Honda motor and has worked for 11 years. Is it time to upgrade and spend $500+ on a much nicer Honda mower before this one fails? The electric mowers seem nice, but it still looks like the batteries to keep one working for 10+ years would be rather expensive.

Wow, it was sooo long ago, my father had one of these, I can still hear and smell it. One day; bucket list item; I will find and restore one for myself

Back on topic: My base model push only Honda went 16 good seasons, only reason I replaced it with a nearly identical model was to make it a little easier for the MRS to mow while I was deployed. I fully expect this one to last long enough. 100% recommend [base model at least]. FWIW; The real [local] Honda power equipment dealer was within $20 of HD and they do have very good service, I would go there.

The average Joe who thinks they will keep repairing their old gas mowers in the coming years is dreaming. Spare parts will become unobtainium or ridiculously expensive at some point. Maybe even within the next 5 years or so. They will make sure of it.

My son's friend's Grandpa bought one of those fancy "zero-turn" electric riding mowers. I'm not sure what brand. It won't actually turn in a zero-degree radius, the controls are overly sensitive making it very difficult to operate in a straight line, and worst of all it doesn't have enough battery life to get through the whole yard in one charge (0.6 acre lot). And he paid more for it than I've got in vehicles, total. No thanks.

I own 2 Honda self propelled push mowers. The older model (almost 30 years old) runs at a higher RPM and is great for mulching leaves - Mulch them on the first pass then bag them on the second pass. The newer mower (18 years old) still is the workhorse for normal mowing. I only have to replace the blades and clean the carburetors. They both still start on the first or second pull.
