Yeah, I suppose that they could do that. Kind of makes you think about it.

In this case though, the software update cured the problem.

And the VW had 45HP and a top speed of 56mph....downhill.

My daily drivers are early 2000 Hondas and a 2001 911 (996). No big issues yet with their electronics and no over-the-air firmware updates.

Per the specs I just looked up on Google the 1956 Beetle had a 1200 cc engine that produced 36 HP at 3700 RPM. It was also listed as having a 77.688 MPH top speed. Note, I suspect that was with a tailwind. When I was about 5 or so my mothers best friend drove a Beetle with a cloth sunroof and semiphor turn signals That I found fascinating. BTW Mom had a late 40's Nash we all called Old Buggy Betsey. In a drag race I suspect the Nash would have won but wouldn't bet money on that.

I've stopped counting.

I have had my new car for 4 months now.

It gets software updates quite frequently.

It has had probably 7 or 8 updates so far.

Many more updates to come, to improve your driving experience they say.

The current group right now is so it will eventually install BlueCruise 1.3 which is Fords hands free driving system.

I joined the Mach E forum to keep abreast of the new bugs that develop with the updates.

My car is a rolling computer…

My previous car was a 2014 Escape. Loved it but there were no software updates ever on that model year.

Glad they fixed it for you!

Serious question: How do you know? How can you tell? I never knew that Ford does this until they told me about it when I took mine in for service, for the problem that I described in the original post.

When I bought my Mustang they had me download the my Ford app.

It tells me what’s going on with my car at all times.

I can start my car with it, open the trunk or frunk, windows, lock unlock etc. Check tire pressure and more.

Also it has 15” sync screen where I can get all the information too.

Our 2009 Ford Flex continues to have transmission issues... started at about 90,000 miles and still has less than 100K on it. Trans replaced...still jerks at about 40mph... took it back... "nothing wrong". then car would stop accelerating but engine would still be running... pull over and 'reboot' turn off and back on... and the trans would jerk like crazy when putting it in gear... had an independent place replace all the sensors and it was. much better but still jerked at around 40mph... now here is the real strange part... had all the brakes replaced and that fixed it! Well it fixed it until we loaded up and headed out on Vacation with about 600Lbs of extra stuff in the car then the same problem..... unloaded the stuff and the car drives find.... I've finally realized it is the dern computer that controls the AWD.
