Told cops where to go for over 29 years… |
My oldest Grandson has been featured in a Sports Illustrated online article. We just got home last week from a 10 day visit to Iowa to watch him play. He is one squared away kid and my daughter and son-in-law are doing everything they can to get him a scholarship for college ball. Having a tough time at the “bigger” schools since once they see he is a bit on the short side (5’8”) they gloss over his otherwise impressive stats. Several smaller schools are very interested but they don’t have sports scholarship money. He did very well wrestling too, got in trouble a couple of times for literally throwing opponents off the mat. Has brains as well, planning on mechanical engineering degree. https://www.si.com/high-school...in-iowa-01jaevkcvb7pThis message has been edited. Good for him, but he is small for big-time football programs. I hope he can overcome that. Cheers! The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

On the bright side there are some small for size backs that are getting into the NFL so if that is his goal there are trailblazers in front of him. Best of luck on any of the trajectories he chooses!

It's all part of the adventure... |
Lots to be proud of there, Grandpa! He sounds like the whole package. Best of luck to him in his sports and educational pursuits. I would have him look into one of the service academies as well. " The people shall have a right to bear arms, for the defense of themselves and the State" Art 1 Sec 32 Indiana State Constitution YAT-YAS

Looks like a wonderful young man with a great future ahead of him, I'd be proud of him too! No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

Very cool and something to be proud of. DII schools give athletic scholarships. DIII does not. NAIA give academic scholarships. That helps out athletes. My shift Sgt. has his son swimming for a NAIA school and that kind of scholarship helps his son.

Div III schools have academic scholarships. My 2 sons both went to a Div III school (Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL) and played football and wrestled while there. They both had academic scholarships. What I like about Div III schools is that they aren't tainted by NIL; the kids competing there in sports want to be there and play.

With three--soon to be four, we just found out YESTERDAY OMG--grandchildren, and we being "extremely advanced grandparental age", I am looking into books about passing on wealth to future generations without making them lazy trust fund kids. One good book lists "wealth" as being the human, intellectual capital of the family, and only secondarily the financial capital. So integrity, curiosity, willingness to work hard, kindness, love for the family--those are our main sources of wealth. 911Boss--your grandson, and by extension his parents, and you too, are wealthy in those ways that money not only can't buy, but may ruin if parents and grandparents are not careful. It's wonderful to hear your story. God bless you and your family. You can see I'm feeling a little weepy today. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"
